Derek POV

We drove to Deaton's in complete silence. Stiles had his head against the window with his eyes closed. He looked exhausted. I pulled into the parking lot getting out and helping a half asleep Stiles from the car. He leaned into me as we walked inside.

"You're so much warmer than your jacket." He muttered, pushing his face into my neck. I laughed waiting for Deaton to finish whatever it was he was doing.

---

"So, boys. What can I help you with?"

"Can you make sure Stiles is okay?" I asked feeling the boy push off of me.

"I know I'm not okay. I feel like I'm dying. It's so warm in here. Oh my god." He said pulling off my jacket.

"Derek, you do know I'm a vet right?" Deaton asked.

"Yes. I know. But Stiles died and came back to life so I can't really take him to an actual doctor."

Deaton hummed, telling Stiles to get onto the metal table.

"So, you died?" He started. "Explain that to me."

"I pushed Derek out of the way and I got hit instead." Stiles said.

"He wasn't even near me. No one in the pack even knew someone was there." I added.

Stiles rolled his eyes. "I don't know how. He was so obvious."

"Do you remember anything when you were...dead..?" Deaton asked cutting off our small conversation.

"I saw my parents." Stiles smiled, sadly. "And I met Derek's mom. She told me I had to come back." He looked at me. "I didn't want to come back."

"But you did?" Deaton asked.

"I said I'd come back for the pack if they did one thing for me. They followed through on their end so...here I am."

"What are you talking about?" I cut Deaton off.

"I came back for you. So...so you could see your parents and sister one last time. You deserved it...so I came back even though I didn't want to." He said quietly.

"Are you crazy? Stiles, you could've had anything!"

Stiles let out a small laugh. "Der, I saw you truly happy for the first time. I got what I wanted."

"What about your parents?" Deaton cut me off again.

"I see them. I don't know if it's real...but when I sleep I'm back there again. I get to see all of my family. My grandma and grandpa. My dad. My mom. My aunt that passed away when I was little. Everyone." He paused. "The pain stops when I'm with them."

Deaton leaned against the wall. Probably trying to figure out what was wrong with Stiles.

"Der...can I have your jacket back?" Stiles broke the silence. I nodded handing it back.

"Do you feel sick?" Deaton asked.

Stiles nodded. "I feel like I have the flu or something. I didn't think it was a big deal. Which reminds me...I uh...probably should've showed you this when we got here. I forgot." He said setting my jacket next to him and pulling his shirt off.

He sighed and squeezed his eyes shut. A second later I was hit. By a wing. A white fucking wing.

"Oh. Yes. You should have started with that." Deaton said. "Can you change your eyes?" He asked.

Stiles blinked, his eyes changing to a red color. Deaton nodded looking unsatisfied.

I touched his wing making him move it away. "Don't. It tickles." He said softly changing his eyes back and retracting his wings.

Deaton handed Stiles a book. "Read this, it will help you. The sick feeling will pass in a week or so."

"This is a book about angels? Are you saying I'm an angel?" Stiles asked.

"I believe so. A guardian to be specific. The book will explain everything. Just get some rest and read."

Stiles nodded jumping off of the counter and walked out toward the car.

"Derek." Deaton stopped me. "Watch him. He's in pain."

"How do you know?" I asked.

"His eyes are red. They should be lilac. Unlike wolves there aren't alphas. Some angels are stronger but they don't need a pack for safety. The eyes tend to reflect mood. Lilac is natural. They are happy, content. Red means pain both physically and mentally. Blue is mental pain, sadness. Orange is anger. Yellow, physical pain alone. Pink means he's nervous. That normally happens only when with someone they love."

He sighed continuing. "I want you to read that book too. He needs you right now. The way he felt before he died is the way he feels now. He needs to know that the pack appreciates him, especially after he helps you guys battle. If he feels unwanted, he'll stop saving you. He'll hurt himself. It's explained in the book. Read it."
