The knock on Stiles' door made him jump, he turned to see Derek standing in the doorway. He sighed closing his laptop and turning toward the older man.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you I'm just kind of stressing out and...I just...snapped." Stiles nodded waiting for Derek to continue, "There's two packs threatening ours and I'm going to explain it all when the rest of the pack get here but...Stiles I'm sorry."
The younger gave him a small smile, "It's fine, I was probably being overdramatic." He shrugged.
"You weren't be dramatic, you were upset. Because of me. I...god I'm so sick of upsetting everyone." Derek muttered more to himself than the boy in front of him.
"What're you talking about, Derek?"
He shook his head in response, "It's not important. Like I said, I'll explain more when the pack gets here."
"Okay."
Stiles watched as the other walked out of his sight before he let out a sigh and slouched a bit.
'Seriously, what the hell was that?' he thought to himself.
--
The pack watched their alpha fidgeting in front of them, silence eerily invading the room, his eyes kept darting to Stiles and down at his feet and then up at Cora and back to his feet repeating the process a few times before he sighed and began to speak.
"Two packs threatened ours." He started, "One of them I'm not familiar with, but I know they're powerful. The other..." He turned to look at Cora. "You're other pack wants you back."
"What, why?" She asked, confusion falling into the open air.
Derek sighed, "They don't think I'm a fit enough alpha to be protecting you."
"What the hell are they talking about?"
"They're referring to my beta eyes." Derek said quietly.
A whine escaped Isaac's mouth upon hearing what Derek said, "That wasn't your fault."
Derek looked away not responding to Isaac, Cora trying her best not to throw a fit from her spot on the couch knowing it wasn't Derek's fault.
"What about the other pack? What do they want?" Scott broke the tension in the room.
"Stiles." Derek answered.
Stiles looked up from where his eyes were glued to his hands, "What? Me? Why?"
"It's getting out that you're an angel, a Guardian. You're going to be wanted by a lot of packs."
"That's not fair, why can't they just get their own angel." Stiles grumbled.
Cora snorted, "There aren't many other angels you dumbass."
"Rude." Stiles muttered.
"Wait, so Stiles is like a rare type of supernatural?" Erica asked.
Derek nodded, "As far as I know, he's the only angel in the United States. The few that I know about are located in Europe."
"There's one in Australia." Cora added. "But adding them all up, including Stiles, there can't be more than five angels on earth at the moment."
"Woah, okay hold on. But there's like a bunch of different types of angels how can there only be like five?" Stiles blurted in disbelief.
Derek sighed, "I don't know Stiles, that's not a question we can answer. Maybe there are more but nobody knows about them."
"How'd word get out about Stiles?" Everyone turned to look at Lydia who'd been quiet the entire time she'd been there.
The alpha licked his lips, "Someone could've been passing through and sensed it, a witch—if they are close enough—would be able to sense it. There's several ways it could've gotten out and it would've eventually I just didn't think it'd be so soon."
"Great, I'm gonna die, again."
Scott elbowed Stiles, "Don't worry, I'll keep you safe." He smirked at his best friend.
"This new-found heroism is making me very attracted to you, Scotty." Stiles replied getting a few giggles from the girls.
Derek forced himself not to growl at the two, Stiles isn't his, besides it was a joke. That's how they always are together.
"I'm gonna run the preserve." Derek sighed walking out of the living room.
--
Stiles was sitting on Derek's bed when he got home, he was flipping through one of the books from Deaton he'd been given. They hadn't said a word to each other as Derek grabbed some clean clothes and made his way into his bathroom to shower. When he was finished he'd found Stiles hadn't moved from his spot. The pale boy turning his head as the bathroom door opened.
"Can I ask you something?" His voice was really quiet, Derek nodded sitting down next to him. "Why couldn't you just tell me that yesterday?"
"I just found out, I hadn't even had time to process it." He replied, "The only thing going through my mind was that I was gonna lose Cora and then I was gonna lose you and I can't, fuck Stiles I can't lose you two." Derek dropped his head, tears running down his cheeks.
Stiles grabbed Derek's face making him look over at him, "You're not going to lose either of us Bear." He said wiping the tears off the others face. "Cora doesn't want to leave and I sure as hell am not going anywhere."
Derek leaned in so his forehead was against Stiles', "You're all I really have left." He whispered.
"That's not true. Derek you have a whole pack, you rebuilt the Hale pack, that's amazing. Your family is so proud of you. Don't forget that."
"Okay." Derek whispered, bumping his nose against Stiles', the other rubbing his thumbs across Derek's cheeks.
"I'm not going anywhere." Stiles repeated, pressing a short kiss to Derek's lips.
When he pulled away Derek felt himself leaning back in not ready for the kiss to end. "Promise?"
"I promise, Derek."
