I couldn't sleep that night. How could I? My dad was out of jail. Sure, maybe he wasn't even in the same country, but he can still hurt me. How can everything just go so wrong, when it was just getting better? I was finally happy. I was finally comfortable and felt safe. It's amazing how in one second, you're entire world can come crashing down. I haven't left my room. Only for the bathroom and food, which I've barely eaten. I've tried to distract my busy, worried mind with YouTube videos or even trying to help the guys edit, but nothing works. As soon as I closed my bedroom door last night, I knew I would barely open it in the next couple of days. There was a knock at the door and I paused the video I was trying, but failing, to watch. "Come in." I said, clearing my throat. Simon opened the door slowly. "Cal called. He told you to call him when you get a chance. He really is so sorry." He said, sitting down on my bed. I nodded. I had already forgave him, in my mind. "The last thing I want now is beef with one of you guys." I said, sighing. "I know." Simon said, laying down beside me. "Why don't you make yourself at home?" I joked. He smiled and looked at the paused video on my phone in front of me. "What are you watching?" He asked. "What do you think I'm watching?" I asked, pressing play. It was a GTA video that was a couple of weeks old. We watched the video in silence. I could actually focused on it with Simon beside me. "I love your videos. Have I ever told you that?" I asked him, scrolling through the next set of suggested videos. "Nope." He said. "Like...I can't even begin to explain how much they mean to me and all of your fans. So if you ever quit YouTube, I will murder you in your sleep." I joked, clicking on a video. He chuckled. "I'm not quitting anytime soon. And I really hope you're joking." He said. "Yes. I'm joking. I'll just watch Vik's Minecraft videos if you quit." I said with a smile. He laughed. "Have you ever watched one? He literally tries so hard not to cuss." Simon said. "Why are you guys so damn mean to me?" Vik's voice came from the doorway. I smiled. "Only behind your back." I said as he walked in. "Why are you eavesdropping anyways?" Simon asked. "I'm just a very curious person." Vik said, taking a seat in my desk chair. "Why is very one in here? Are we having a secret meeting?" JJ's voice made us all snap our heads towards the open door. "I guess so." I said with a small sigh. It was quiet for a moment. "When is Josh coming home?" JJ asked. "Tomorrow some time." Vik answered. "How about we throw another party?" Simon asked with a smirk. "You guys can go right ahead. I will be right here sleeping." I said, pointing to the bed underneath me. "You're boring." JJ said, poking me. "Nah." I said, shaking my head. "You still have to call Cal." Simon said. "Oh god. That is going to be a weird conversation." I sighed. They chuckled. "It's not funny." I said as I scrolled through my contacts, pausing at his name 'CalFrozen! ❄️'. The boys put his name in my phone as that, it's supposed to be funny, but I don't really get it. I pressed the call button and put it on speaker so the guys could hear. They went silent as he answered. "Mackenzie! Hey!" He said in a cheery voice. I smiled. "Hey Cal!" I said, trying to match his happiness. "About the other night...I am terribly sorry. I don't know what got into me. I was so drunk and you were just so beautiful. I'm so sorry. I promise it will never happen again. Forgive me?" He asked. His voice was nervous and serious at the same time. I don't look at any of the boys, just kept my eyes glued to my phone. "I understand and I forgive you." I said. He sighed in relief. Simon held up his phone for me to look at something 'Invite him to the party tomorrow.' It read. I nodded. "We are actually throwing another party tomorrow when Josh gets home. Wanna come?" I asked. "You and Callux and Harry?" I added. "Y-yeah sure. That sounds great. I'll tell them." He said, his voice back to being cheery. "Me or someone else will text you the time and stuff." I said, looking at the boys for reassurance. They nodded. "Yeah sounds great. I've got to go. See you tomorrow. Bye!" He said. It sounded like he was walking fast. "Alright. Bye." I said hanging up. I sighed as soon as I out my phone down. "Wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be." I admitted, shrugging. "Who's ready to party?!" JJ yelled, ignoring me. "Dude. Chill the fuck out. We had one two days ago!" Vik yelled. He rolled his eyes. "You can never have too many parties!" JJ yelled, standing up and walking quickly out if the room. Vik rolled his eyes. "What time is it?" He asked, looking at me. "Fifteen minutes until 12." I said, looking at my phone. He sighed. "I guess I have to go stream." He said, getting up. "Have fun." I said as he walked out. He waved in response. I looked at Simon. "Are we ever going to talk about 'us'?" He asked, staring at the floor. 'Us'? I didn't know there was an 'us'. "What do you mean?" (Stop singing!) I asked, cocking an eyebrow. "The kiss." He said, still not looking at me. "Did it mean something to you? Because it meant everything to me." He added, looking at me slightly. The truth was, that kiss meant the entire world to me. I couldn't tell him that. But maybe I could. "Ahh, Minter, you're not very smart, are you? Of course it meant something to me! It meant everything to me. That kiss, which happened days ago, is a big part of what is keeping me going now." I said, looking at the ceiling. He was quiet. "Are we a thing now?" He asked, looking away from me. "I don't know if that's a good idea. Just yet. Maybe after this whole 'dad' thing blows over, then. Then it will be a perfect time." I said, nodding to myself. "You know I'll never let him hurt you again, right? I promise." He said in a quiet, broken voice. I felt his hand grab mine and he squeezed it. "Why are we talking about this now?" I asked him, staring at our interlocked hands, my heart fluttering in my chest. "Because I was just thinking about it. I actually haven't stopped thinking about it. I just thought it was a good time as any." He said, staring at our hands as well. I smiled. This. This right here is what I wanted. It's what I needed. I was completely positive.
