"Baarish"

Did I just feel that!?

"Ishita ghar chalo. Barish ho rahi hai" I heard him say

"Ye barish nahi. Dil ki sifarish pe, meri khwahish poori karne ki, saazish hai" I said in a trance

"Kya?" he asked confused

"Yeh saajish hain boondon ki
Koi khwaahish hain chup chup si"
I sang playing with the tine drops of mercy that showered from the heavens above

I gathered some raindrops in one of my palms and showed him pleadingly

"Dekho na Dekho na

Dekho na Dekho na"

He did not pay heed to my plea and began to walk away towards the car, a frown began to form on my face.

Just then strong wind blew from the opposite direction pushing him back, forcing him to halt.

Thank you God I said with a huge smile and started singing
"Hawa kuch haule haule
Zuban se kya kuch bole"

I closed the gap between us and extended my hand saying
"Kyun doori hai ab darmiyaan"

The wind seemed to be satisfied at the accomplishment of its task as it stopped. I tried to convey the same to him saying
"Dekho na Dekho na
Dekho na Dekho na"

"Barish tez honewali hai. Humein chalna chahye" he said without accepting my hand beginning to leave

I went ahead of him and blocked his way by spreading my hands on either side

Dear Wind! Come back please! Your task is still incomplete!

And lo! The wind came back singing tumne bulaya aur humein chale aye...

Ummuah! Love you! I said to the wind

Pehle usko to I love you bol jo kabse intezar me khada hai the wind scolded

Wo ruke to bataun na! Wo to isi zid pe ade hain ke ghar jana hai! Kuch karo na please! I requested

Hmmm...tu ruk...aur dekh mera kamal the wind assured and I waited

The wind blew taking away my dupatta with it. I immediately covered my bosom with my hands and lowered my gaze feeling self-conscious and shy at the same time

Are aise kya khadi hai? Mujhe jo karna tha maine kardiya...Ab aage tumhe sambhalna hai the wind instructed

"Phir na hawayein hongi itni besharam"
I slowly lifted my gaze to see that he was gaping at me. My heart started to beat rapidly and knees felt weak.

I stumbled saying
"Phir na dagmag dagmag honge ye kadam"

He came immediately to steady me holding my upper arms and that very moment thick raindrops graced us

"Haa saawan yeh seedha nahi khufia bada
Kuchh toh baraste hue keh raha"
I gripped his shirt for support while he still held my upper hands. This was the closest we had ever been.

Our eyes met and I pleaded again

"Samjho na Samjho na
Samjho na Samjho na"

But this adamant Ravan Kumar of mine was still miffed. His attempts to extricated himself from me was stopped (paused?) by another blow of wind that brought back my dupatta from wherever it had been flying freely that now safely landed on our heads
