(n.); Japanese /the sense upon first meeting a person that the two of you are going to fall into love; a sense of imminent love, somewhere down the road, without yet feeling it; inevitable love in the future, rather than the instant attraction implied by love at first sight.
Castiel rushed in, knocking shoulders and almost tripping up under his own clumsy feet once or twice. The building he was heading was tucked out of the way from the main downtown buzz, but it was there alright. Sam's choosing, of course.
"Castiel...Novak...floor 3...recording studio...for Winchester's..." Cas panted to the poor receptionist, leaning up against the desk.
Fuck, he was exhausted; but Cas mainly blamed it on not setting an alarm. Today was his big deal of a book he had to read for and now he was late.
Good going there, Cas. Way to keep your job.
He had met Sam in college years back and had kept in good contact. Something about being a studio manager and taking over his family business slipped into conversation one day and before Cas knew it he had his dream job.
Working so close to Sam wasn't any more difficult than what he was used to, they talked, discussed, Cas even had some input to the company other than just reading in his 'husky, sensual voice' and being the most requested by other firms. He'd even had offers to do radio but this job was perfect.
The receptionist rolled her eyes and logged him in, giving him the updated key master so he could swipe into Sam's office now. (Once too often, Sam found him slumped against his office door).
"Thanks," he breathily said, nodding at her, before rushing to the elevator across the lounge area.
Cas kept checking his phone for calls, texts and the time. He should've gone to bed earlier but what use is that now?
Once it stopped at his floor he rushed out and knocked furiously on Sam's office. Then he remembered he had access to there now and barged in anyways.
"Sam, I am so sorry, I don't know what happened, it won't happen agai-" he was shut up by recognising another figure in the room, turning around to face him, hands in pockets.
Sam was standing up and holding some papers in his hand, the other man, around his age, was in a maroon beanie and thick, black shirt. He wore rounded glasses and looked like your typical late-twenties-hipster-but-actually-started-to-be-trendy-before-it-was-trendy type of guy. His stubble and little strands of hair poking out made him all the hotter.
"Hey to you too, Cas," Sam raised his eyebrows, smirking. The other man remained neutral, almost observant. "No worries man, some of the equipment broke in your room so we're going to wait for a couple of hours until next door is free."
"Oh, okay," Cas mumbled, backing away in shame. He clutched his shoulder bag and turned around.
"Hey, wait a second." This, Cas presumed, was the beautiful voice belonging to the other man.
Cas stopped and turned half way back, squinting in confusion. His heart rate sped up and he felt much warmer with those deep green eyes focusing on him. It was even worse when the man walked over to him.
"Castiel Novak, right?" Cas dumbly nodded. "You're that guy that read that whole, uh, gay erotica series."
Cas flushed a very deep red and he worried his eyes might contrast with it. "T-That was some years ago, though. I'm much better at it now."
At this, the man smirked knowingly.
"N-Not reading gay erotica or anything, well, uh, more the reading in general thing."
