Back to Cara's POV
"Stay," I whispered, my breath slightly labored.
Bucky nodded slowly as I opened the door, and he followed me inside. Immediately after the door was closed, his lips were on mine again, and we quickly fell backwards onto the small couch near my door. My hands moved to take off his shirt, but he stopped me.
"What?" I asked, looking up at him. "What's wrong?"
He shook his head and stood up. "I can't. We can't."
"I don't understand."
"You're drunk."
I shrugged, "Moderately."
"It wouldn't be right," he said, and sat down on the edge of the couch. "And you have no idea how hard it was to say that."
I crawled over onto his lap and began kissing his neck, trying to convince him otherwise, but again he stopped me. I frowned and pressed my forehead against his.
"You're a good man Bucky Barnes."
He smiled faintly, "You should sleep."
"Okay," I got up and walked over to my closet, unzipping my dress on the way.
I stepped out of it and left it on the floor, along with my shoes. I glanced back at Bucky and smirked. He raised his eyebrows, and his eyes left my face for maybe a second. He swallowed and ran his hand through his hair.
"You're really trying to make this hard for me?" He laughed slightly. "Aren't you?"
I picked up an oversized tshirt from my closet and pulled it on over my bra and panties, then shrugged. "I'm just getting comfortable, Buck."
I went back over to the couch and laid down so my head was on his lap. He laughed a little again and shook his head.
"I meant in your bed."
I pouted up at him, "But you're not in my bed. I mean, you should be, but you're not."
"Okay, come on," Bucky stood up and picked me up bridal style.
I laughed as he put me on my bed and pulled back the sheets. He brought them back up and over me, smiling triumphantly.
"That's better, isn't it?"
"You're still not in here, so, no."
"Cara."
"Bucky," I mocked his stern tone. "Pleeeease? Just stay."
He hesitated, "I shouldn't."
"Why not? Other than the fact that I am quite drunk and seemingly getting worse by the second."
"I'm not the...deepest sleeper, Cara. It'd just be a burden," he said quickly. "I'll see you tomorrow, alright?"
I could tell this was a soft spot, so I decided I would leave it alone. I sat up and kissed him softly.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
*****
I woke up the next morning with a pounding headache. I groaned and covered my head with a pillow, wishing past me hadn't drank so much wine. But, I'd seen much darker hangover days. With a few cups of coffee and a lot of carbs, I'd be fine in a few hours. I reluctantly crawled out of bed and made my way to the closet. After I got dressed, I went downstairs and into the kitchen. Everyone else sat or stood around the island, eating breakfast and drinking coffee or tea."Hey guys," I yawned, grabbing a mug from the cabinet.
Tony smirked slightly, "So, Cara, somebody had a good time last night."
My eyes widened and flicked to Bucky, I rose my eyebrows at him and he shook his head slightly. I cleared my throat and took a sip of coffee. "What are you talking about?"
"I saw you talking to Beau from accounting," he said. "What else would I have been talking about?"
"I don't know," I said quickly. "But Beau and his little friends are assholes. I'll be avoiding them for the rest of my life."
Bucky smirked into his drink and I smiled slightly.
Tony stood up and sighed. "Alright, well, we're still on for tonight, right?"
"Of course," I sighed, clinking my mug with his as he walked by. "Fifteen years."
"Fifteen years," he echoed, and walked out.
I walked over to the fridge and opened it as everyone else looked at me. Nobody said anything, and I let them wonder what it had been fifteen years since. I took a banana from the fridge and began peeling it as I walked out of the kitchen.
"Cara, wait."
I turned around at the sound of Bucky's voice, and stopped walking. I felt my face soften and I smiled slightly.
"Hey, Buck. What's up?"
"I just wanted to let you know that I didn't tell anyone about last nights," he said quietly. "Not even Steve."
"Wow, impressive."
He smiled and glanced back towards the kitchen. "I thought you would want it to stay that way."
I was silent for a moment, thinking. "Makes it a little less awkward, doesn't it?"
"Makes it a little easier."
"Makes sure no one is on our asses about it."
"Makes it more fun," he murmured.
I was slightly shocked at Bucky's words, and I smiled. "I have to go work on some stuff, but I'll talk to you later." I leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek quickly, then spun around and left him standing there laughing.
When I reached the lab, Tony snapped his fingers at me and waved a piece of paper at me. "Great, you're here. Pop a squat."
I grabbed my chair from my desk and pulled it over to Tony's desk. "What can I help you with?"
He held his hands above the surface of his desk and raised them, so that an electronic blueprint hovered in front of me.
"I've been working on new suits for you and Natasha," he said. "I want your input."
We quickly got carried away with working on the suits, and a few hours later, Natasha walked in and sat on the edge of the desk.
"Tony, Pepper was looking for you," she said. "Something about how she couldn't believe you forgot something for the third year in a row?"
"Shit," Tony scrambled out of his chair, "I've gotta go buy flowers, champagne, chocolate, condoms, shit she's gonna kill me."
"Oh god, TMI, Tony," I crinkled my nose and leaned backwards.
He rushed out of the lab, but stuck his head back in. "Cara, finish those suits up and I'll see you tonight."
I nodded and waved, turning back to the prints. Natasha quickly took his seat and swiped her hand across them. They disappeared as I protested loudly.
"Nat! What the hell?! I was working on those!"
"Pepper wasn't looking for Tony, I lied. I needed to get you alone," she said quietly.
I furrowed my eyebrows and squinted at her. "What's going on?"
"I need you to do something for me, Cara," she glanced out the door of the lab and looked back at me. "I need you to find Bruce."
