This chapter is about a dance, made up by me. The music is the closes I could find that I think goes with this dance! I recommend you to listen to the music after Percy changes and dances by herself! I will signal you with an >, as in play for the music. And the pictures on the side is what Percy wears. Enjoy!
---------------
I rush back inside to the balcony, where the others are waiting for me. Once I reach the doors leading out to the balcony, I take a breather and then walk out.
"Sorry you guys. Business and all." I joked. Everyone had questions in their eyes that I hoped that I could avoid. "Where've you been?" Aaron asks, facing the town. "Uh, I had to run an errand." I had't told them all the conditions of my deal with Melva, but I told myself that I would later or at some point.
"I'll take that for now." Obviously, Aaron wasn't taking my answer. But he said for now, so that would be good, for now, but now I know, he's sometime later gonna bring this up again.
Music played, and guests either danced, or talked. Food would come later. An announcement was being made. "My dear guests! I welcome you into my humble home! Today, we celebrate my Father's birthday, the former king!" It was King Luis X. The music resumed, louder, with musicians from who knows where, playing their instruments high and proud.
Aaron turned around to the sound of people chattering about dancing. "Percy......Do you want to dance?" It was so sudden, that I only said "What?" But Aaron didn't answer. "No can do. Her first dance has already been reserved for me." I whisk around to see Jack leaning on the door.
"Jack!" I say. He's still wearing his Law and Order uniform. "Still on duty?" I ask, going up to him. "Whenever duty calls, I have to be at it like a bull going for the red draped cloth." He chuckled and takes my hand, leading me towards the center of the ballroom. I nod goodbye to Tia and Aaron, because Lewis and Valorie are already dancing, and Noellen is surrounded by girls, asking him to dance.
Jack takes my hand and sways me back and forth. I take steps, swinging and manuevering through the dance. He takes my hand and spins me around, that's when I accidently step on his foot. "Sorry!" I whisper. He chuckles and just nods. The music ends, and I move onto a new partner, this time, it's a young man with a white feather in his hat.
I dance and dance away. Not much time has passed since I first danced with Jack, until I trade partners for the King himself.
"Have you found her yet?" I ask, whispering. "No, that's why I came to you! Now tell me where she is." He whispers. I can hear the people that are not dancing, saying ooohs and awes, words of envy. I'm guessing they were watching us.
"I'm not sure." I tell him, though I was totally teasing him. She was leaning against the wall, searching for him. He grips my hand and then says "Stop lying, just tell me something, anything!" He whispers. I nod, thinking of what to say.
"Once or twice, you've seen her thrice. She's yet to be waiting for you,on the other side. On the other side, she's waiting, waiting for you. But there is something blocking her path, something keeping both away, her and you. This something, is wide, tall, strong, and inpeirceable. What is this something? If you can guess right, you will find her there." I tell him a made up poem from the top of my head.
It's quite easy actually. It was a big hint when I said "This something is wide, tall, strong, and upeircable." But then again, who knew the King could be such a quack when it came to love?
*Sigh* "What? Is it a mental thing or do you mean physical? I think it's physical. Oh I don't know. People? A tree? I don't know!" He get's frustrated. I laugh a little and then say "It's both mental and physical. It's a wall, you dope. Mentally because of your status and your stupidity for love. Your status is too different. She a maid, you a king. Physical because you can't find her, and,....Well, because she is up against a wall." He groans just right when the music ends. He quickly searches the walls, still not even close to finding her. Oh well, I'll leave that to them.
I stray off to find me bumping into Rosa. "Percy! Great timing! Come with me. Hurry!" She grabs my arm and ushers me up the stair cases, giving me no choice or say, what so ever.
She drags me into her room again, setting me on her bed, she goes off into one of the two doors, this time, she goes into the brown door. She comes out seconds later with a dress and a mask. "What did you want to show me?" But she ignores my question and ushers me behind the changing wall. "Hurry, change out and put this on." She hands me the dress and mask.
The dress is a orangey and redish color, frills surrounding the skirt full, like the white and purple I was wearing earlier. I put on the mask, it was orange and red, with a diamond in the middle and other crystals around the edge. I hurried out to show Rosa, whatever she wanted. "Good, now wear that dress for the next dance, and then come see me again to change into your white and purple." She commands and then ushers me outside, never answering my one question, what's happening?
Just before the staircases, Rosa snaps her fingers, signaling the lights people to replay what they had done earlier when it was me and Lily. I gulp and turn to Rosa. Everyone's attention is on me. I plea with my eyes, not knowing what to do and not wanting to do it. But she ushers me anyways, giving a gentle push, Rosa whispers in my ear just before I descend the stairs all over again. "Move with the flow."
Move with the flow? What was that suppose to mean?!
All eyes on me again, I nervously descend, not once tripping but twice attempted to step on the hems of my dress. I slowly breathe in and out, pacing myself for the worse. As soon as I'm on the base of the ground and not descending anymore music immediately starts and the lights are turned on.
People move back, not dancing or knowing what to do when this foreign music is played. Instruments unknown to me, are placed forward with their owners, being played. Three girls, with a foreign accent, chorus the music.
This music sounds so familiar, like I've heard it so many times in my life before, but I know, this is the first and truly the first time I've ever heard it. But something courses through me, like a source of energy or power. I feel relaxed, and before I know it, I'm center of attention, the only one dancing to this foreign music. I feel weird and scared, but I also feel relax at the same time while energy surges through me, so I just keep dancing. I feel stronger. I also know what Rosa meant now.
I move my hands back in forth, slowly, like waves. My legs move around, turning in circles like the Earth. My hips sway gently back and forth, like trees swaying when a soft but strong wind hits. I'm going with the flow, moving elegantly, yet at random. I'm following the tempo and melody, the beat rushing in my vein.
The music get's a little faster, but that's okay, because although my moves don't make sense, everyone seems fascinated. I twirl and twirl, making the dress illusion-ate something I can't tell, but everyone seems to know what it is.
I'm so happy and cheerful, that my smile shows off, making the performance even more greater. Then, just as I twirl again, my eyes catch the gang, Lily, Rosa, King Luis X, Jack, Vlad, and Virgil all eyes fascinated and unbelievable. Rosa looks the most happiest. Mine and her eyes meet just for a second, but I flash a smile her way, she smiles back too.
Then I start the whole cycle over again before I started twirling, not once making the same moves. The song was closing, yet nobody knew yet, just the musicians, back up chorus singers, and......me.
The music ends in a mysterious feeling, me, center of attention, but Rosa manages to pull me out before I am surrounded by mobs. She quickly drags me back upstairs, once we're up, she motions for the standby guards to allow no farther entry. Just as we turn the corner, Virgil is seen, leaning against a wall.
Rosa nods, apparently knowing what this is about, says "Come right after you talk. No side missions." then she walks off, to her chamber.
Virgil straightens up and walks towards me. "Have you decided yet?" He asks. "Yes." I tell him. "Actually, let me guess, then you can correct me if I'm wrong." He says. I nod, allowing him. "Who knew it. I surely didn't." He told me. "What?" I ask, confused.
He turns to face me once more and then says, "The dancing, the music,........ You're the Phoenix."
