<Keira's POV>

Sam and Dean dropped me off at the mall uncermoniously. Apparently, they're not used to taking girls shopping, because they have no idea what to do once we've parked and are staring at the malls facade.

"So...uh...have fun Keira!" Dean tells me.

I stare at him in horror.

"You're not just going to make me shop alone are you?" I ask.

I'm terrified of walking around by myself on this. I'm sorry, but I'm just not independant enough at this point to go walking through a public place alone. It scares me. I mean...demons! There could be demons. Besides, someone has to tell me when my fashion sense is going astray.

"Why don't we just call Kris!" Sam says suddenly, sounding pleased with himself.

"Great idea, Sam," Dean says sincerely.

I'm not so sure. I hardly know the girl. It's not as if I dislike her. It's just that I met her only about a day ago. That's not even considering the mental awkwardness I have at the thought that I was jealous because I thought Sam might have feelings for her. And I haven't known Sam that long either!

"Kris!" he calls, "get your...feather, black smoke, hybrid ass down here!"

It takes several seconds, and then Kristy appears. She looks...rough, much to my surprise. Her hair is pulled back in a messy ponytail, several strands hang loose around her face in disarray. She's wearing battle armor-like actual armor. It's silver with engravings of angels and fighting other angels. There's a dagger in her hand, the empty sheath attached to a belt at her waist that also houses a sword. Most terrifying is the blood splattered across her face and armor.

"God, Dean, what now?" she barks shortly.

He pauses.

"We need you to go shopping with Keira."

She sends me an incredulous look. Then she jumps up, banging her head on the roof of the car and shouts, sounding like she's in pain.

"Gotta go. Cas. Be back when I can."

Then she's gone. Sam and Dean exchange perplexed glances. I sigh.

"Kris gets things down quick. I'm sure she'll be back in a sec," Sam says reassuringly.

"I wonder what was happening before we called her," Dean mutters.

<Kristy's POV>

Ooh! I get to do one of these again?! Oh, wait, I'm not supposed to know I'm in a book. Right...

I slash down another one of Raphaels soldiers, black wings spreading on the heavenly battlefield floor beneath him. I take down another. That's two, three, four, five....

"Kris! Get your feathery, black smoke, hybrid ass down here!"

I glance across the battlefield at Cas. Just seeing him makes me heart beat faster. I hate that we have to fight. I hate that we're both in danger. I hate that I'm generally more durable than he is. I don't like having to worry for him.

Our minds are perpetually linked together thanks to my powers-a neat little trick I discovered one night while we were...um...well...being 'intimate'. Anyway, it's extremely useful considering we're commanding an army of angels and we need to be in touch 24/7. And even though neither of us will admit it, it gives us an intimacy and a connection to each other that we've come to both rely on and enjoy.
