The "Friday Nights" Poem

I lay with you on a couch,

comfortable, calm, and seemingly collected.

Our Friday night spent watching movies,

Your favourite is selected.

I’ve learned to laugh at the appropriate moment,

and when I need to wince.

I’ve seen it with you many times,

though I have not watched it once.

Your couch can be too small to lay down on,

but knowing us we’ll find a way.

With my legs on your lap,

forever we could have stayed.

The movie finishes,

your family sits down for dinner.

I feel more at home with you,

than I do at “home” this winter.

When I finally get home,

I listen to my favourite band for hours.

You introduced me to them,

no taste in music is better than yours.

Tomas, you're my best friend

and you're closer to me than my family.

and isn't that what really matters in the end;

I know no matter what, you will always stand by me.
