Aren't Fridays supposed to be the time when it feels so exciting and relieving because there'll be no classes the day after?

Well, my Friday was the complete opposite.

I was all up and excited to go to school (I didn't know why), that I forgot to bring a gym shirt for P.E.

I walked through the campus halls with a frown as I was going to the gym lockers to change. Now, how was I supposed to do this? Where was I supposed to get a shirt in less than twenty minutes?

As I arrived in our gym lockers, Jamie Harrington greeted me with a smile. We won't ever really be friends, just the occasional smiles and waves.

"Why the long face on such a beautiful morning, Ivory?" She asked.

Oh, she's actually one of Claire Holden's closest friends. Their attitudes are way different. You know, Jamie is nice and Claire isn't.

"I forgot to bring my gym shirt. So yeah, I don't describe this morning as 'beautiful', more like 'unlucky', 'disastrous' or some sort." I replied bluntly.

"Yeah, Coach Bourg will be furious once he sees you play dodgeball wearing that."

I agreed. I was wearing a white sleeveless shirt under a blue checkered polo; not made for dodgeball.

"I have a spare tee. You can borrow it if you want." She added.

It's like all the prickly thorns from my body were suddenly being pulled out when she said that. I've never felt so relieved.

"I'll borrow it, thank you very much!" I said. She opened her locker and pulled out a white tee and gave it to me.

"Here," she said as she gave her shirt to me while smiling.

"Thanks! I'll just get changed now. You're a lifesaver!"

I didn't wait for her to reply as I went to the nearest changing room. I guess this day won't be so bad, after all.

I take back what I said. This was probably one of the worst moments of my life.

I was in the middle of the court, surrounded by my classmates, as they threw dodge balls at me (since I was the only surviving player to not get hit by one) while they laughed at what I was wearing.

Students here usually prioritize being fashionable. Well, how unlucky I was when they saw me wearing this baggy shirt with a grinning cat on it that says, Have a Purr-fect Day!

Seriously, does Jamie really own this shirt? Or was she just trying to make me feel embarrassed, humiliated by the entire first period of P.E.?

Well Jamie, it worked!

The bell rang, signaling the end of first period. I ran all the way to the changing rooms without looking back. I was just focusing on getting to the changing rooms to not get humiliated even more. I bumped into someone in the process, but it wasn't just any person.

Why do I always bump into him? The first one was just fine; since I was wearing something presentable.

The look he gave me was priceless. As if he forgot that we bumped at each other, he just stood there and laughed. I even think I saw tears coming out from his eyes as he laughed. Did I really look that ridiculous?
