Nick's POV (italics represent past occurrences)
Last period came, and I was more than excited. I planned on giving her another note to spice up things, but I still haven't decided what to write. We weren't really having a class since the teacher just left us to review, that was why I decided to make use of the remaining time to write another letter.
It then came to my mind that my friend, Evan, shared the same class with Ivory at that period. So, I sent a quick text to him, asking how was she doing. It didn't take a minute for him to reply.
nothing much. we're having a test and some aren't done yet. her pal seb's always bugging her for some answers which she eventually gave.
I thought she would never let anyone copy her answers. That was what I observed in English class with her. In fact, she always covered her paper and made sure she was the only one that could see it. Especially on pop quizzes.
I tapped a 'thanks' to Evan and started writing,
You're very generous. :) I thought you were that girl who, you know, keeps answers to herself. ;) - S.A
"What are you up to?"
I nearly jumped from my seat when I heard that familiar voice.
"Damn it, Alex!" I hissed.
I forgot to mention that we were classmates. It was kind of sad for me. I didn't like the guy, and I don't know why.
Well, probably because Ivory's crazy in love with that little shit? Yeah.
"I've been meaning to ask this, what does S.A mean?"
I just gave him a mind-your-own-business look, but he just continued.
"You're not an S.A, if it stands for your name. You're an N.J."
"It says, Suckyourass Alex." I replied nonchalantly.
"Not funny,"
"It wasn't supposed to be,"
From then on, I didn't mind him and just focused on the note. I stared at it for who knows how long when I heard a click. I looked up to see Alex holding his phone.
"What do you think you're doing?" I asked with caution.
"Just taking a picture of your note. Thought I might need examples for future references."
I raised an eyebrow, "Sure, buddy,"
That must have been a warning. It was my mistake. I should have stopped him when he took a picture of my note. It was so dumb of me not to think that what he meant for future references was using it for Ivory.
I trusted him. I let him know about the other notes I sent to Ivory as the days went by. I didn't know exactly why, but it was maybe because he told me he wouldn't tell Ivory. God, I was an idiot.
"Tell you one thing," Alex started, as he accompanied me to give my third note to Ivory. We had an argument because I didn't let him see my note. "How about you show me your notes and in exchange, I won't tell her that it's you."
That was close to blackmailing, I thought.
Being the dumb fucker I was, I agreed. He did come in handy, though. I noticed he was building up a bond towards Ivory. I immediately felt jealous, so enraged that I want to beat the shit out of him. They were beginning to become a lot more close as each day passed by. But on the bright side, Alex let me know how Ivory was doing lately through their closeness.
I wished Ivory would tell that to me herself, though. I wished she knew me, wished we were friends.
But there was one thing I didn't tell Alex, since I did that on a weekend.
I came to school on a weekend because I was assigned by our English teacher to help sum up the attendance. It was pretty hectic, since I summed up three classes, including my class with Ivory.
While scanning through various papers, one paper stood out - Student's Contact Numbers
I read on,
Please write your name and contact number, along with your parents, in case of absences or emergencies.
I saw her number and immediately saved it on my phone. I wasn't thinking clearly, the moment I saw her name and number made me really happy so I didn't waste any more time.
Once I was finally home, I grabbed my phone from my pocket and immediately started texting.
When I first fell in love, I believed my feelings would be reciprocated the same way. Every minute, day in and day out. I hope that when you finally know who I am, which is soon, you can give me a chance. -S.A
Sent.
From that moment, I just stared at my phone, wishing she would reply. When I felt like it took so long, I frowned and put my phone in the table.
The instant I heard my phone ring a few minutes later, I dropped everything just to read the text from her.
Who is this?
Better late than never. She replied. It made me warm and fuzzy all over. I was smiling like a lunatic while reading her text.
The fuck? I probably am a lunatic. Weren't girls supposed to feel the way I was feeling and not the other way around? Warm and fuzzy, thinking of it almost made me want to gag. What was that girl doing to me? Her text meant nothing, but it made me feel so happy.
That was the only note, or should I say 'text', that Alex had no clue about. He knew about the last remaining letters I gave to Ivory before prom.
Boy, did I sure regret telling him everything.
Once I saw them kissing, it instantly made my blood boil from jealousy and anger. I might have been in a fair distance but I heard everything.
Every single thing he said to her.
How could he do that to me? Was that his plan all along? So many questions were left unanswered in my head. But what I focused on was not letting this slide. I have to tell her, right now.
I slowly walked towards them. The closer I got, the more I noticed how beautiful Ivory looked. She must have noticed me because she gave me a confused look. Alex, on the other hand, shifted uncomfortably in place.
I gave one last look at Alex, then turned to Ivory. Finally, I cleared my throat before saying, "I'm S.A."
I hope that was explained properly! But if you're still confused, please let me know! I wonder why Alex did that. What were his reasons? Hihi.
Anyways, tell me what you think by leaving a comment! And please VOTE. :) It'll mean the world to me. :)
