"Do you miss home?" I asked her as I climbed into the back seat of the car.
"Yeah, but we cant go back sweetie," mom sighed.
"Yeah I know. Do you think we can stay here for awhile?"
"I hope so," she said and started the car. It was a nice car, nicer than the one we had at home, well our old home. Its a convertible I think. Its the car where the roof comes off. You wouldn't think your grandma would have this type of car. Gran was pretty young. She was only 40 when she passed. I miss her. But I cant change the past, if I could I would.
I was quiet for a long time in the car. I didn't really have anything to say really. I was mostly thinking. I mostly do that a lot. I do much more thinking than talking, I don't know why, maybe because I have no long term friends, no permanent home, nothing. All my friends are in my head you could say. Yeah I know a 11 year old shouldn't have imaginary friends because they have real friends. But be on the other hand, I only have imaginary friends.
Mom interrupted me from my thoughts, "What are you thinking of baby doll?" she asked.
"Everything honestly. Home, moving, no friends, just a bit of everything," I said quietly, looking down in my lap.
"Things will get better love, I promise. One day we wont have to move around. One day you will find the friend that will never leave you. One day we will be happy and wont have to move," She said looking at me for a second before looking back at the road.
"When will that happen?"
"Soon baby, soon."
"I really hope so mom," I sounded sad. Well I was sad. I am sad. Mom is the only one I have. I want to settle in, I want to have a real solid home, I want to be happy. I need to be happy. Since dad died mom and gran were the only ones who were really supportive about me. The other side of my family didn't want anything to do with me and my special ability. Then when gran died no one else was there. I cant do this much longer without losing it.
"Mom, I dont want to go on like this. I'm so tired of moving! I want to stay in one place! I cant keep moving and making new friends that only blow me off later, pretending we were never friends when they find out the things I can do. I cant do it. It hurts!" I bursted out.
"Baby I know its tiring, soon we will be living in a nice house, soon you will have so many friends you wont know what to do with them all. We will be happy and maybe Ill find someone."
"No one will replace dad, mom,"
"You're right," She sighed.
"Maybe this time will be our last time moving."
"Do you really think that?!"
"It could be a possibility. Anything is possible."
"You say that so many times."
"Its the truth. In the word impossible itself says I'm possible," she said and looked at me.
I shrugged, "Whatever you say mom."
"I'll happen. I know it."
"No it wont, it'll never happen," I said disappointed.
"Lets talk about something different. I mean something happier. Were going shopping, dont you like shopping?"
I thought about it for a moment "I guess."
"You always used to go to the mall with your aunt all the time, and remember you used to have fun," she mentioned.
I smiled a bit, "Okay shopping is fun mom, you cant full that with me," I paused, "Can I pick out my own clothes?"
"Only if there appropriate," she answered.
"What is appropriate to you?" I asked raising my eyebrow.
"Well what do you think is appropriate for a 11 year old"
"Uh... Nothing that is inappropriate," I shrugged.
She laughed, "Okay smart mouth."
I laughed at her, "Well you asked," I giggled and smiled at her.
"Correct I did," mom smiled and pulled into a parking structure. "Were here."
I smirked. "Oh no... I didn't know that."
"Okay smart mouth... New nick name. Smart mouth,"
I laughed. "Hi I'm smart mouth," I said and stuck my hand out for mom to shake it.
"Nice to meet you smart mouth, I'm great mom," she shook my hand.
"No you're weird mom, I'm smart mouth," I giggled. "You know what you shouldve done?" I asked.
"What dear?"
"Quoted Taylor Swift... 'Nice to meet you where you been?" I giggled more.
Mom laughed, "Whats with you and Taylor Swift?"
"I don't know, she just describes me. Her music, everything, it's like it speaks to me. She always can make me smile when I'm sad. She helps me when no one else can," I said with my eyes closed.
"I'm glad she makes you feel that way," she smiled.
"Are you ready?"
I nodded.
"Lets go shopping!"
I laughed at her. "You seem excited."
"We haven't had much mother daughter time lately."
"Yeah, with all this moving," I nodded.
"We finally can spend quality time with each other. We can spend the whole day together," She smiled.
I smiled and hugged her tightly. "I love you so much mom."
"As I love you too darling."
"Promise you will never leave me mom?"
"I will never ever leave you, I promise baby girl," He held onto me tightly.
"I never want you to go," I whispered quietly.
"I will never let you go. I will always be there with you in my heart."
We spent a few moments hugging each other before we got out of the car.
"Youre going to get a whole new wardrobe," she said.
I laughed. "Better than the weeks worth of clothes we have."
"Indeed," she laughed.
"Lets go."
Mom took my hand and we walked into the mall.
