Chapter 6

He never came back. I was escorted by Tyler to school. Luckily he gave me privacy when I took my shower. As I entered the school everything was busier than usual. It didn't surprise me though. Today was the day where all 5 alphas sparred against each other. Every 3 months, all the Alphas would fight against each other.

Usually it'd be Alpha Hyde at teh bottom because he was the weakest out of all of them. Not saying he wasn't strong. He was very strong. The other Alphas were just stronger. Alpha Wade would sometimes be number 1 or 2. He was always in the top 3. He only got 3rd once.

When the Alphas fought, all the wolves would gather and watch. They'd fight in a big arena with chairs surrounding everywhere. The special thing about this arena was that the injuries that you'd attain in there would be there on your body. Your wolf healing did not help. You were had to heal like a normal person.

The Alpha who created these alliances of the 5 and created the school was said to have create this arena and event for a lesson for the Alphas. To never defeat your enemies fast before they could do any damage. Alphas were meant to be strong. Built to be indestructable.

It was obvious that an Alpha would do more damage than a normal wolf which meant Alpha going against Alpha would hurt a lot if you gained an injury. That's why Alpha Hyde always had these bruises and cuts weeks after this event. I guess the Alpha who had set this whole thing up motto was that 'to avoid pain, one must be strong' as it was engraved on the top of the arena.

They dismissed us at 12 to go to the arena. As I walked towards the arena, for some blasted reason, I had to go to the bathroom. I quickly ran to the bathroom and quickly opened the stall. I threw up. It was painful as my throat burned. I held my stomach. I don't know how long I puked in there, but I do know it was quite long since outside in the hall it was quite. I don't know why I threw up. I just hope I wasn't coming down with any sickness. I quickly cleaned up. I flushed the toilet and rinsed my mouth with water. I looked in the mirror. I was a mess. I had dark eyes and I had sweat on my face. I grabbed a paper towel and dabbed my face. I threw the paper towel away and retied my ponytail. After I was finsihed, I walked out. As I walked towads the arena, I saw Alpha Hyde. I quickly hid behind the wall where I couldn't be seen. He was talking to someone.

"I'll win today for you." He spoke. It sounded as almost he was desperate. I heard some shuffling noise and the squeak of shoes.

"Enough with the crap Hyde. I rejected you remeber?" It was a girl's voice, Angela.

"I'll show you I'm better than Wade."

Angela laughed in a mocking tone. "you better than Wade. You're kidding right? Please don't even start." She giggled

"Why do you do this?" He asked

"What?"

"Why can't you come to me?"

"Really Hyde? Really? Do you know why I don't come to you." She paused, "I don't want to be tied down to a fuc*ing weakling who holds onto his daddy. Imagine what I 'd look like. Wade is a much more manlier man than you are. He's independent and nice. I love him. I don't love you. Get that through your head!"

"I promise I'll be better than he is! I'll be the greatest Alpha out there... just please.... please come to me."

"I rejcted you Hyde. Don't you ever dare call me your mate. I deserve better."

"Angela ple-" I heard a slapping noise.

"Don't touch me!" Angela sneered. With that I heard the clicking of heels. All I could hear was the heavy breathing of Alpha Hyde. I stood there frozen hoping he didn't know what I'd witness. I soon heard heavy footsteps as they got farther and farther away. Once I couldn't hear them anymore I got out of my hiding space. I then walked towards the arena. All the seats were taken as I had to stand.

After 5 minutes of waiting, the bell rang signaling the start of the event. The 5 Alphas appeared. Everyone cheered. My mate smiled brightly. He looked so confident and brave. My eyes could not be taken off him. He was.. he was jsut so beautiful. Mine, that's mine. I was shooken out of my daze by someone who I looked up to see Tyler.

I quickly bowed giving him a sign of respect.

"Mind if I watch with you here?"

"No, I certainly do not mind." I said. Tyler nodded.

The first fight began. It was a fight between Alpha Ryze and Alpha Kane. I wasn't really intrested until later when it was time for my mate to fight. It was so intense! He won though. My heart was scared for him as each blow to him was so painful. Alpha Hyde lost all his fights as usual. He looked to be in a lot of pain as his face was all bloodied and it was easily seen he was breathing heavily. You could see that he was trying so hard to just compete.

"Why do you follow him even knowing he is weak?" I ask Tyler who seems to be bored with the fighting.

"You ask why..... or are you asking that question to everyone that follows him?" Tyler replies.

"Well, I guess to you and everyone."

"He's a good man." Tyler starts, "I know that may sound really illogical, but everyone in the pack would say the same thing. He may do bad things, but he usually has a good reason for them. Although he sometimes has bad days where he goes into the wild to hunt rogues." I shuddered from the thoughts of the man getting dragged in chains behind him. "In this world, people only define you by the bad things you do. Not the good ones. People judge before they know the true story. He doesn't deserve anyone's respect to outsiders, but those who know him, know that he deserves all the respect in the world. That man bathes in pain and can never escape it, but he always tries to do the best for others."

I look at him bewildered. It was as if he was talking about a different man. I give him a weird look. "You haven't been around him long enough. Maybe that's why you see your mate as a good man, and maybe why I can't see him as one."

Startled by his words I decide to ask him "You know who my mate is?" Tyler nods his head. " It's easy to see just by the way you look at him. Alpha Hyde doesn't share much, but I've been with him so long, I can jsut read him sometimes. Also you make it too easy." I blush .

"Oh" I say.

My attention is caught when I hear the crowd scream. It appears that the next match is one wher Alpha Wade fights Alpa Hyde. It's apparent to see who the winner will be. Before the fight begins, Tyler takes my wrist and drags me out the arena.

"Why'd you do that? " I ask

"It's for the best."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm going to take you back to the pack house. That way the elders can protect you."

"Why is that?"

"Don't ask too many questions. Ohhhh...... they are coming." he stops. He then grabs my hand.
