Chapter 22

Adira tried to get out of his grasp as she wanted to go to Noel. Hyde gripped her harder and she tried to resist.

"Please let me go." She asked as she looked him straight in the eyes.

"After this dance." He said. She looked at him and then back at Noel sadly. Noel looked at her and gave her a weak smile and nodded giving her the ok.

"Just one dance." She said. Hyde nodded. Throughout the whole dance Hyde looked straight at her. Feeling awkward and misplaced Adira looked off to the side. They didn't talk much. Everytime she would try to make conversation he would just give her short answers and stare, stare, and keep staring which made Adira feel really self conscious. They swayed side to side.

Strangely, as Hyde held Adira close to him she was warm. He glanced at the boy that was her date who looked at him coldly but looked away as soon as he saw Hyde was looking at him. Did her warmth come from him. All these questions nad puzzles. He looked down at Adira. He looked at her taking her appearance. Her brown hair was curled, her dark green gown fitted around her curves, she had long lashes, and beautiful red plump lips. He continued looking at her not ashamed of her actions as he wanted to absorb this beauty in. He wondered when she became so beautiful. She shly was looking away from him which amused him greatly as he wanted to chuckle. Every once in a while she would glance up at his face. Her brown eyes were reminded him of his mothers. They were dark brown, plain, but they told a story.

He didn't notice that the song had ended until Adira slipped out of his grasps as he was loosely holding her.

"Thank you for the dance." She said as she turned to make her way towards Noel.

Hyde watched as she strolled away, the bottom of her dress trailing behind her on the floor.

Noel reached his hand out towards her which Adira accepted. She smiled at him as he did back to her. He glanced up to look at Hyde and gave him a cold glare and then returned his attention towards Adira and put on his warm smile again.

Hyde watched the two leave to the refreshement table as he was still in the middle of the dance floor, the only inregular movement as everyother person was dancing around him.

From far away, the beauty in the red dress watched Hyde as he was looking at Adira. Just a little bit, her heart hurt as she realized that the mate she betrayed had already fallen in love with Adira. Her thoughts were interrupted by a huge hand that touched her back. She looked up.

"I want to leave Wade." Angela told him.

"Why, it hasn't even been that long."

"I don't feel well." She looked up at him with pleading eyes.

"Ok, wait here. Let me say goodbye to my father." Angela nodded her head slightly as she watched Wade leave. She took one more glance at Hyde wondering what would have happened if she went to Hyde the day they met.

Wade walked over towards his father who was conversering with the other past Alphas. Indeed his father had a superior air about him, the power radiating off. He walked up towards his father who looked up at him. He had Hyde's Green eyes, the one thing he truly dested of his father because it reminded him of such trash.

"Me and Angela will be taking our leave." Wade said. His father just looked at Wade and gave a slight nod and turned back to engage in conversation.

Wade smiled a fake smile to cover up the sadness he felt from the unaffectionate farewell. Always, he was always second even though he was the first born. Always second. The one hidden in the shadows, the one to get the scraps. His heart burned in anger but he did well to not show it to anyone. He bit the inside of his lip and turned around, controlling himself to not do anything rash. Then so be it, he thought.

He went back for Angela. He took her hand and led her up the stairs looking back at the ball for one last time searching for a certain someone. He saw her dark green gown stuffing her face with a cupcake. He smiled. You look beautiful tonight he thought. He tore his eyes away and walked away with Angela's hand in his.

Night came. There were still many at the ball. Noel had seperated from her for awhile after the many dances. He was talking to friends while she was eating the nice deserts they had. After a while she felt sick. She decided to go out to the balcony but stopped going there as she realized that a couple were having an intimate moment. She quickly backed away. She went back into the ballroom moving towards the exit. She quickly got out and breathed in the fresh air that she welcomed right away.

Hyde was leisurely sitting on a couch watching her. He saw her open the door to the balcony but immediately closed it and her face flushed a bright red. He chuckled a bit at her reaction. He then saw her make her way towards the exit. Immediately he got up and started following her not wanting to let her out of his sight. While making his way through the crowd he was grabbed on the arm. He looked at the person who grabbed him. Seeing the old man, he sneered and kept walking as if nothing happened.

"Son!" Hyde's father called out. Hyde ignored him. The people around them backed up as they heard Hyde's father call out to him. Hyde's father was a well respected man in the werewolf community. He was probably the strongest too. If this was a place where they had kings and queens, Hyde's father would've probably been crowned king unanimously.

"Hyde." He called again from behing. Hyde's way was suddenly blocked by the arm of his 's father's Beta, the Beta that used to be Beta in his pack when his father was Alpha of his pack. Hyde looked at the ground and then straight into the Beta's eyes making sure that the Beta knew he was pissed off. Still the Beta was unfazed.

"Kid, stop being a brat and talk to your dad when he calling for you." The beta said.

Hyde said in annoyance. He turned back around to face his father. "What do you want?" he said coldly.

His father looked at Hyde with warm eyes. "I'm happy to see you here." He said.

"That's all?" Hyde aske annoyed. "If all you are going to talk about is some sappy bullsh*t, then save that for Wade because I don't need any of it." Hyde then turned around and walked away. The Beta put out arm again but Hyde just simply shoved his arm away. Attempting to repeat his actions, the Beta stopped midway once he saw Hyde's father shaking his head for him to quit. The Beta obiediently obeyed. Hyde's father watched Hyde walk away with sad warm eyes. For him, Hyde was the light of his life after his mate had died giving birth to Hyde.

Soon the tension broke as people resumed their conversations acting as if that dramatic scene didn't happen. Hyde made it outside and scanned around looking for the her dark green dress. He her sitting on a big boulder where other boulders lay close to a lake. He watched her from afar.

That night, everywhere she went his eyes followed he making sure she was safe. A part of him accepted something that day. The fact that he wanted to protect her.
