Chapter 6: Almost Kisses and Soccer Balls

The next morning I woke up at 5:30 sharp and got dressed in running pants and a tank top. Moving quickly I run to the small kitchen in my hotel and grab a granola bar and head downstairs to the lobby.I think Josh and I are going to go running through a park today. When I texted him this morning he said it was the prettiest place in town.

The lobby is full of business people and tourist like myself. It's so crowded I can barely see anything. Standing up I start skimming the crowd for any sign of Josh. Nothing. I keep looking but then arms wrap around me from behind and spin me around. Now I know where Josh is.

"So are you ready to run?" I ask Josh. "You bet." He says back walking out the front door. The warm air touches my skin and a cool breeze glides its way across it. A perfect day to run. I start jogging towards the green, healthy looking park. Josh starts sprinting towards it. "Your going to get tired faster if you run like that the whole time." I scold him. He looks behind him and smiles then sticks his tongue at me. "Your just trying to slow me down so you can win."Josh's voice says competitively. "If you say so." I say sarcastically back.

After about an hour Josh looks like he's going to faint so I slow down to a walk even though I feel fine. He does the same. "Remind me to never doubt you again." He says with a smirk. Now we're just walking through the park side by side. I grab his hand and he squeezes it. People all throughout the park are acting crazy. It's obviously because of Josh. A flash hurts my eyes and I stumble a bit but Josh steadies me.

We end up on the other side of the park where there is a soccer field with soccer balls for everyone to use. Josh runs over and grabs one and starts to juggle it and does all these fancy tricks. I just sit in the grass feeling talentless because I couldn't do any of that in a million years.

Soon enough Josh pulls me on the field and says we're going to play one game of soccer. I nod and grab the ball from his hands and drop it in front of me and dribble down the field to one of the huge nets. He laughs and runs after me. One thing you should know about me is I'm super competitive so I want to win.

Twenty minutes pass and I am losing by ten goals. Josh puts the ball down and dribbles it down the field. I'm determined to get one more goal so I chase him. To my surprise I get the ball away from him and start going the other way. Right before I'm about to shoot Josh gets to me and nudges me stronger than he expected I suppose because I fall down and burst into laughter.

He notices I'm down and runs towards me. "Are you okay? I did not mean for that to happen!" Josh says looking worried. "I'm fine. Just help me up." I whisper putting my hand out for him. Right when he pulls me up I pull him down next to me. We both laugh hysterically. "You tricked me. And I completely fell for it." He says amazed. " Yep. You needed payback so there you go." I say. I lean over on the side so I'm over Josh's face. His hazel eyes stare into mine. I can see Josh is inching closer and closer. Right before he can get close enough I jump up and say "Race you to the hotel" Then I started running away. He laughs and runs after me.

When we finally get back to the hotel I suggest we get breakfast so we head off to find a breakfast place. My hand holding his waist. His arms around me shoulders.
