"When did you remember?" Josh asked. I think back to when it happened.
"I don't know. I was walking through the garden right near Johnny Rockets and had this overwhelming feeling of knowing myself once again," I whisper to him, our faces still so close that I can feel his hot breath.
"Why didn't you call me or something to come home? I wouldn't come. You know that," Josh smiles at me and I look down at my pink flats.
"I.... I needed time to think about how I was actually going to tell you. I didn't want it to be rushed or confusing. I needed to figure out the perfect thing to say so you would know exactly what had happened to me," I mumble still looking down at my feet. " I love you just seemed to work perfectly. "
"I love you so godamn much," He says before passionately kissing me. The force makes me unbalanced and I almost fall. Josh catches me at the last second. I start to kiss back.
When we finally pull away, both of us are breathless. Passion seems to do that to you a lot. Weird.
"Ann, I need to ask you something," Josh states. I give him the "go ahead" by nodding. " I know that this could be rushing into something and I did ask you this before you got hit by the car but.... Will you marry me?" He gets down onto one knee and pulls a black velvet box from his pocket. My hands fly to my mouth in shock. I can't believe this. It's actually happening. Again.
"Of course, I will," I kindly squeak out as tears fill my eyes. I pull my left hand gracefully into his and wait for the ring to slide into my finger. The cool, metal ring does exactly that. "How long have you been keeping that in your pocket?"
"Ever since you woke up in the hospital and forgot everything. I knew that the day you remembered would be the last day that I'd spend without you as my fiancé." Josh answers. I shyly smile and give him a warm hug and kiss. "I hope you like the ring."
"Are you kidding?" I yell. "It's the exact one that I have imagined sliding in my finger ever since I was six. The ring doesn't even matter anyway. This now means that I can spend my life with you, and I wouldn't have it any other way."
We just keep smiling at each other. It's like we can't stop it at all. Josh takes out his phone and dials up a few numbers while I do the same. Both of us have a it of people to say the good news to. My mom is especially excited. I have to make up an excuse to get rid of her and all her wedding talking. I've only been engaged like two whole hours. No, I don't know when the wedding is going to be!Suddenly there's a knock on the door of the house. Josh and I both walk to the door. I look more confused at who's here than he does. I swing open the door.
"Jen? Juliet? Avan?" I ask loudly. "What are you doing here?"
"SURPRISE!" They all scream together.
"Josh, called us all up and asked to come over and celebrate the new engagement and you remembering everything." Juliet tells me. I look back to Josh and give him a warm smile. He returns the favor.
"Well, come on in. I will get some snacks and wine and we will start having some fun."
Everyone piles in and goes into the living room. I go into the kitchen grab some things then head to where everybody else is. The fun begins.
We talk about who they are dating and who they wouldn't date. I steal glance at Josh and he does the same to me. The girls gawk over my engagement ring and I feel embarassed by all the attention.
Jen talks about the funny times on the hunger games movie set and we all laugh along. I just enjoy the moment and forget about everything that has happened to me in LA. This is what being young and in a great city looks like.
As the night goes on, I see Josh walk out onto the balcony to get some air. I follow.
"Hey." I say standing next to me.
"Hey." He answers.
"What are yout thinking about at this very moment?"
"You."
"What about me?"
"About how I will be able to wake up next to your beautiful face every morning now." He looks over at me. I blush.
"I could say the same for you, Mr. Hutcherson." We both laugh.
"Do know what?" He asks.
"What?"
"I love you."
"I love you too." Josh turns and leans into me giving me a kiss. When we pull away, we say nothing.
In that moment, nothing is needed to said. I am with him and that's all I need right now.
I don't know if I will wake up tomorrow and suddenly realize that I don't love Josh or he will just walk away.... but I do know that I love him in this moment. No one can take that away from me right now.
I've always was that girl in school that the boys didn't really like and I offically gave up on every male when I was sixteen. That changed when I meet him.
I hope that tomorrow I don't wake up not loving Josh or him leaving, but who's knows what the future brings.
My name is Ann Hill. I am in love with a boy named Josh Hutcherson. I plan to stick around him for a while. I just hope he sticks around too.
