Chapter 17: Christmas Break

(15 year time jump)
Reese walked into Intelligence and saw her Mom sitting at her desk.

"Hey Mom!" Reese hugged her.

"Your Dad should be up anytime now. He went to go pick up your brother from school. I thought you had cheer tonight?"

Mason got up from his seat.
"You mean her Uncle Mikey? Because last I checked I'm her Dad." Reese looked confused.

"Mom,What does he mean?"

"He's your Dad. Mikey is your Uncle. Michael said he'll raise you and I let him and he's been better than you ever will be Mason."

"Now I know why Collin is always an asshole to me. You know what Uncle Mason or Dad. I don't need you in my life. If you decided you wanted to choose Jacie and your son over me. Whatever."

Michael and Shane walked up the steps.

"Dad,Can I go to Navy Pier with Cassie and Blaine and Finn?"

"Sure Reese. I don't see why not. Take your brother and Isaiah with y'all."

"Okay. Love you Mom. Love you Dad." Reese shot Mason a look,then walked back down the stairs.

"Dad,Can I go to Isaiah's afterwards?" asked Shane

"It's up to your Aunt Paisley and Uncle Jay. I know Jay-Luke and Camille are turning 3 tomorrow."

"Shane,It's okay for you to sleepover. I don't have a problem with it." Lane and Liam walked up the steps.

"Hey Liam! Hey Lane!" yelled Shane

"Hey Bud." Liam walked over to him and hugged him.

Britton bolted up the steps of the district.

"Hey Britt! How's my favorite girl?" asked Daniel

Britton turned around and saw her boyfriend who went into the Army.
"Daniel!" She yelled

"Hey Baby. I missed you. Is your Dad here?" Platt motioned for Britton to come see her.

"Britt,I don't want you getting hurt kiddo."

"Platt,You have nothing to worry about. I'll be okay. He loves me and I love him. I haven't seen him in a year though."

Daniel put his arm around her and kissed her cheek.
"I love you Britt." They both walked up the steps. Greyson stood in front of his grandpa's grave. He didn't know what to say. He missed him even if he never met him.

"Hey Grandpa! It's me again. I know I come see you a lot but I miss you. I know you probably wish you were here. I wish you were. Dad misses you and I'm doing good. I'm a firefighter at fifty one and I'm doing good. Dad's my chief." Erin sat down on the couch watching Camille and Jay-Luke play. She loved watching her grandkids for her kids.

"Jay-Luke,We do not hit!" scolded Erin

Jay-Luke threw himself on the ground and pouted.

"Alright you don't get any ice cream bud."

Reese walked into her Grandparents house.

"Grandma,Grandpa,Can you please talk to Collin and Mason. Both of them are being assholes." Kim and Adam turned around

"Reese,What do you mean?" Adam looked confused not a shocker.

"My Dad apparently he doesn't want me and he thinks it's okay to be an asshole to me. It's not fair. Collin confronted me the other day. I can't deal with them anymore. I know Collin is my half-brother but I don't love him. I never will. Can you just talk to them?"

"I'll talk to them. Are you ready for Christmas?"

"Yeah. I am. I am ready. Uncle Jay told me that Cami is getting a kitchen and Jay-Luke is getting a bike I think."

"Those kids are spoiled." Kim scoffed

The next couple of days was a whirlwind of disasters. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Lane burned the turkey. It's One in the morning Christmas morning. JJ and Paisley have been up all night putting together a kitchen.

"Pais,You forgot the screw."

"You know what Halstead,Just forget it. You can do it." Jay wrapped his arms around her.

"I love you Pais! I love it when you are mad." Jay kissed her

"Put the damn kitchen together for your daughter. We still haven't put the basketball goal together yet." Paisley whispered

"My daughter. She's got Ruzek and Halstead DNA."

"I know." Paisley walked over to him and kissed him.

Isaiah walked into his parents room.
"Mom,Dad Can I help you build the kitchen?"

Paisley and JJ turned their heads.
"Sure Son." Isaiah walked into the room and grabbed the screwdriver he started the sides.

Reese walked into her parent's room.

"Dad,Can I talk to you?" asked Reese

Mikey turned around and saw Reese.
"Reese,What are you doing up?"

"I know I know. It's 1 in the morning Christmas morning. Who cares."

"You're right. What's wrong Reese?"

"Collin and Mason. They are both big assholes. I don't get why He is so rude and mad. Last I checked I was his daughter. He had sex with Mom to get me here. It's not fair." Mikey walked over to her and hugged her.

"Who cares about them. You have me and Mom and Shane."

"He's aggravating." Mikey laughed
"I know."

Mikey put his arm around his daughter and they both snuggled up. He loved her so much. Reese felt safe when He was with her.

Britton walked into the living room in her dad's house.

"Daniel,what Are you doing?"

"I needed to ask your Dad a question.." Daniel got up from the couch and hugged Britton.

"I love you Daniel." Lane and Liam walked out of the extra room and Cassie walked out of hers.
"Dad,I'm making some coffee." said Lane

"Alright. Go ahead. We'll wait." Britton sat down next to Daniel and her brothers.

"Here you go." Lane handed his kids Their presents. Cassie opened hers. She got new boots a new laptop and some clothes. Lane Jr. Got the handgun he has been eyeing for a few months.

"I love this thing." Lane held it up and smiled.

Lane got Liam a handgun also. "I love it."

Daniel grabbed a box from Lane and bent down on one knee while Britton was still turned around. Lane Jr. Pushed her to the other side. She put her hands on her face and couldn't stop smiling. Daniel grabbed her left hand and put the ring on her finger.

"Britt,I want you on the other side of my bed. I want you to be the mother of my kids. I love you Britton. And Will you Marry me?"

She nodded her head.

Lacie and Chris got up and Blaine was already downstairs. Emerson ran into the kitchen and fixed herself a cup of coffee,then sat down in the living room. Greyson shrugged and walked like a zombie out of the bed.

"Mom,Can we just get this over with?" said Greyson

"Sure son. Open your gifts." Lacie handed her oldest child,his presents.

Greyson got some new polo shirts and shoes. Emerson got new boots and a new necklace. Blaine got a basketball goal and some new nikes and clothes.

So sorry I am late getting this chapter out!! I have been busy all day and it was a really fun filled day for me and I hope you had  a great day! I hope you enjoy my change with this book, I know where I'm gonna go with it and I'm excited for you to read it
