Chapter 5: Halloween

Chris and Greyson went into Jared's© and looked around. Chris and Madison always talked about getting married,but Chris decided to wait and get the ring.
"I ordered a ring online." said Chris

"Ok. What's your name?" Chris choked on his spit.
"Chris Hermann!"

"Alright. Here ya go. Dimond cut with tiny ones around it. Thanks for shopping at Jared's."

"Dad,Why are you proposing to Madison?"

"Son,We went over this. Your Mom died and I need happiness. If your Mom was still alive. We would've gotten married already but She died so I am proposing to Madison. She'll be your new Mom. And of course You don't have to call her Mom but you have to respect her."

"Dad,Why can't you wait?"

"Grey,I'm not waiting. I love Madison. I miss your Mom. I miss her alot."

The next day

Greyson hopped out his bed and ran down the stairs. He sat down at the table and ate his cereal.

"Daddy,Guess what I'm being for Halloween." said Em

"What?"

"Elsa!"

"Here we go again. Dad,we get to wear our costumes to school right?"

"Yeah. Go put it on." Madison walked down the stairs and kissed Chris.

"Hey Love."

"Mommy!" said Emerson

"Em,She's not our Mom." said Grey

"Then Who is Grey?"

"This woman." Grey showed Emerson a picture of Lacie and Chris.

"What happened to her? Did she not want us?"

"No. She wanted us. She died when I was five. She went into Aunt Jessa and Uncle Jay's school and saved Uncle Jay. But She got hit and died in surgery. But Dad didn't know she was pregnant with you. And You were a surprise."

"Dad,What happened overseas?" asked Lane

Lane sat in his chair and so did Jay.

"Lane,When I was overseas it was about a couple months after you and your sister were born. I left. We had a mission we were doing and Our Humvee was doing patrol. There was a bump in the road. Mouse and I were in the back. And the bomb went off. Mouse and I were lucky to escape. I felt bad because we left one of our buds behind. We went into a house and one of the guys punched me and knocked me unconscious. When I woke up they stabbed me and I-I had the cut. It was bad. Then we were saved. Mouse was nearly killed because He got brain damage. Lane,I didn't want you going into the Army because of that. Because of what I went through. Lane,What I went through I do not wanna go through again. It was the worst thing I've ever endured. My Mom and Dad,They didn't care I mean why would they. I went against them and still went after I knew my Brother died in the Marines. He was my favorite person."

"Dad,Wh-What Brother? I thought you only had Uncle Will and Aunt Sam?"

"My older brother Isaiah. I named Isaiah after him,because He was my role model when my parents told me He died, I didn't take it very well, my Mom and Dad they didn't like the fact that I went into the Army."

"Dad,I'm sorry you went through that."

Later in the afternoon. Brynley got Cass dressed. Liam and Lane put their costumes on and went out the door. Lane and Brynley were bringing them to the Firehouse then afterwards They'd go to Molly's.

"Mom,Can I go to this house?"

"Yeah. Be Careful."

The guy opened the door when Liam said "Trick or Treat", handed the candy to The boys then ran back inside when He saw the gun on Lane's holster.
