I waited for two hours for my brother to get home, the whole time I was texting Carter to see how much trouble he was in. I hated the kid for years, but I hated him a little less at the moment. He got me out of detention after all. Besides, if I was really angry at him, I knew I could take him in a fight. That's what happens when your big brothers are paranoid freaks. It was almost an hour before I heard Cason get in. He and Harold talked in the living room for a long time. He was trying to get me out of trouble, I could hear it.
A few minutes later he came into my room and sighed.
"A food fight sis? Really?" Cason wasn't mad. I could tell when he was mad. He was just really upset.
"Yeah. Not my finest hour." I cringed. He laughed and ruffled my hair and I laughed along.
"Speaking of, did you not think you needed to shower and change?" He asked. I looked down at myself and groaned. He laughed and left the room. I grabbed some sweats and a tank top and headed to the shower. When I was done I did the laundry, because I knew I would have to anyways. That had always been part of being grounded. Even before Harold was in charge. The tradition dated back as far as my eldest brother Brody and his twin brother. We don't see much of them. Brody told me that it actually dated back to our actual parents, but I didn't remember them much, if at all. When I was back to sitting bored in my room I could hear my brothers arguing.
"She's in high school crazy things are gonna happen." Cason defended me.
"She should know better!" Harold was mad.
"I remember your crazy high school days. You always know better but knowledge is the enemy of fun." Cason reminded him of something Brody used to say.
"Fine laundry duty for a week." Harold compromised.
"Deal." Cason said. It made me wonder how bad my first punishment had been. I figured I'd better leave it to my imagination.Cason came into my room and I threw my arms around him. He pulled me into a hug and laughed.
"Heard that huh?" He asked. I nodded.
"Okay snoopy." He said.
"Cover for me? I need to go see if I can bail Carter out." I begged. Cason crossed his arms.
"I don't like this kid. He's a trouble maker." Cason argued.
"Please?" I pouted. He stood his ground.
"I have to get him out of trouble. He's grounded till he's 30!" I defended. Cason laughed.
"Fine. But don't get into any more trouble." He ordered. I agreed, gave him a quick hug, and jumped out my window.I quickly skateboarded to his house and ran up the steps. I took a shakeup breath before ringing the doorbell. His mom was sure to answer, and that woman scared me.
