"Your call sounded urgent." He started the conversation.
"It was, I need a favor. It's a rather large one however."
"Let's hear it then." He sounded slightly worried.
"I need to put out a bounty of sorts..." I started.
"What kind of bounty?"
"I need someone abducted."
"Who? May I ask."
"My friend Asher."
"Why?"
"I need to get information from him, so to speak."
"Alright. Well I'll see what I can do."
"I'll tell you what you can do, just get the word out. Give out the number of my pink phone to anyone interested. I'll text them a picture of him along with some basic information about where to possibly find him." I know it seems I've lost my mind, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
"This can make you some serious enemies."
"It can also make me some very powerful allies."
"Alright I'll get the word out."
"Thanks dad." I smiled and we finished our meal in silence before heading home.
I pulled out my normal phone and saw several missed calls from Carter. I decided to call him back since he helped me and I suppose we could be friends now. With that in mind I dialed his number and hit call. He answered on the first ring.
"C.J. You worried the hell out of me!"
"Sorry I had business to tend to. And leaving a 14 year old boy to watch me is pathetic. Really Carter."
" yeah well when I left you were unconscious."
"I woke up. Come over, please I'm bored." I asked.
"I don't know if that's a good idea..." He said with a pause.
"You know you want to." I taunted.
"Fine, I'll be there in 10 minutes." "Deal!" I said. Secretly I really missed him, I hated to admit it, but I did. The worst part is I had no clue why. I went to my room and threw on a red sports bra and some red basketball shorts. I popped popcorn and put in insidious one. He showed up right on time and we sat next to each other to watch the movie. He was frightened, but I was laughing. Eventually I must have fallen asleep on his arm though, because I missed the end of the movie.
I woke up and he was nowhere to be seen, but I heard muffled voices in my kitchen. I crept to the door to listen in.
"She doesn't know okay? She's innocent." There was a pause, and then he continued to speak. He must have been on the phone.
"Dad, she doesn't concern you. She's my business, not yours.... Yes I know the consequences, but trust me, she's clueless... Just your average dumb blonde." His voice went icy and so did my blood. Dumb blonde? If that's what he thought then there's trouble now. Hearing the line click dead I quietly got back onto the couch and just sat up holding the blankets over myself. He was about to get played. He entered the room and smirked at me.
"Morning beautiful. How did you sleep?" He asked.
"The movie gave me nightmares, I pretended to be brave when we watched it but I was just a little scared." I looked up at him and lied through my teeth. The cobra was scarier than that movie and I wasn't scared of him. But my eyes sold it. I dabble in lying a lot.
"Do you think you can be alone today?" He asked concerned.
"Would you mind hanging out with me today?"
"Not at all baby doll." He said all too willingly.
"Come sit next to me." I motioned to the seat next to me and he sat down.
"You look good in the morning." I said leaning on him.
"You always look good." He said to me.
"I'm about to look better." I said getting up. I went into my room and put on ripped jeans and a see through white crop- top. Over a black underwear and bra set. I ran a brush through my overly long hair and put on light makeup and black vans. I walked into the living room to find that he'd straightened his clothes and ran his hand through his hair. I brushed my teeth in the kitchen and he used the spare brush in the bathroom.
"You were right, you do look better." He said as his arms went around my waist.
"But you never technically broke up with Aron, so I shouldn't be saying that."
"Well knocking me out is like breaking up to the extreme so... I consider myself single, for now." I pressed closer to him and turned around in his arms. He smirked at me and pulled me against him, but I pulled away just a little and frowned slightly.
"What's wrong baby doll?" He asked in almost a whisper.
"Is this going to be like last time? " I feigned worry.
"Of course not, I never meant to hurt you." He responded too gently. It was like a game he just didn't know I was playing too.
"You kissed Courtney."
"She kissed me if I recall correctly."
"Yeah whatever." I put my head on his chest and suddenly he grabbed my face and kissed me, I kissed back but it was all an act. Because despite everything that happened I was still in love with Aron. And I knew it. We stopped kissing and he took a phone call and left the room. I also received a call a few minutes later.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Tsk, tsk, Scarlet, you should have gotten our permission before putting out a bounty on your little boyfriend."
"Hello to you too R.S." I said coldly. Cobras right hand man was never my favorite person, but he was better than cobra.
"Cobra wants a meeting with you and viper." Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
"Great, text me a time and location and I will be sure that we're present."
"No need, Viper has been alerted. You have 10 minutes to get to the base."
"See you in five." I said before hanging up. Carter walked back into the room a few seconds later looking worried.
"Babe, Cason needs me to meet him somewhere." I said with fake concern.
"I thought he was out of state." Carter responded suspiciously.
"He was but he got a few days off to come tell me something."
"Oh okay." He said still not fully convinced,
"I gotta go babe. I'll be back later though." I said.
"Alright baby doll." He said. I grabbed my shoes and started running. The base was in the back of the coffee shop cafe de Espana. Which happened to be three blocks from my house. I got there right when I said I would and found Cason and Cobra waiting on me.
"...as her partner you should have told her not to do this." Cobra was saying to Cason.
"I didn't consult him. I consulted with my father. He actually sent out the message for me." I intervened.
"Speak only when you are spoken to. Especially in the presence of a superior." Cobra spat.
"My apologies master." I said sarcastically.
"You are in trouble here Scarlet. I suggest you watch your tongue." He said frigidly.
"Why am I in trouble?" I asked already knowing the answer.
"Why did you put out a bounty without consulting us or your partner?"
"I didn't think it was necessary. I apologize because obviously I was wrong." I stated simply.
"We don't just take sorry's here girlie." He said standing up. Next thing I knew I was being held against the wall by my throat and punched in the ribs repeatedly. Cason cringed with each hit he watched me take but my eyes must have told him to stay quiet. I didn't want him receiving a beating of his own. Later I used foundation to cover the bruises on my neck and went to Cason's hotel for lunch with him. We were just about to order when my pink phone rang.
"I gotta get this..." I said hesitantly.
"Go ahead. They didn't tell you to cancel the bounty."
"Yeah they just almost killed me for it." I picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Is this scarlet?"
"This is she."
"My name is Python. I'm from the snakes eye and I am calling in response to the ad about this Aron."
"Okay well I can text you his address and-"
"No need. I already have him."
"Wow you work fast." We talked a bit more as I got his information. I then informed him that I would be there in an hour.
I apologized to Cason and left. I then continued to edit my appearance. A red wig and red colored contacts along with red makeup and red army boots. I then left to meet him. When I got to the address he gave me I instantly tensed up. It was a child care facility. Who the hell holds a hostage for a gang member in a child care facility. But when I walked in I didn't get at all what I expected.
"Hello Casey dear. Did you miss me?" I was shocked beyond words. Then I was angry.
