It was finally lunch and Colbilyne and I were looking for a table. We found one and sat down. Our cafeteria is set up where all the tables are round and red. Then there's the platform, a stage with tables on it. That is where all the popular people sit. People like me never go up there. I suddenly remembered the note. I took it out of my pocket and read it carefully.
Hey Lockergirl meet me at my house after school and bring your new friend.
I turned to Colbilyne.
''Hey you up for meeting a jerk after school?'' I asked.
''Yeah it's Friday what the heck sure.''
''Good'' I texted Harrold and Cason to tell them I'd be home by dinner. Now all I had to do was tell Carter now. I looked around for him and to my severe disappointment he was on the platform. I stood up sand slowly began walking over. When I got there he looked at me expectantly with his ocean blue eyes I handed him the note
''We'll be there.'' I said as I walked away. The rest of the day was pretty boring. Finally the end of the day bell rang. I grabbed my stuff and Colbilyne and I led the way to Carter's house and knocked a woman with black hair and ocean blue eyes opened the door. She must have been Carter's mom.
''Hi Mrs. Anota. Carter invited us over. I hope thats ok ma'am.'' I said politely.
Yes of course come right in. I believe he's in his room. ''
''Thanks'' and with that we went upstairs to find Carter's room. ''If you're looking for Carter's room it's on the third floor.'' Dustin surprised me and I spun around.
''How do we find it from there?'' I asked.
''Easy, it's the whole thing.''
''Thanks Dustin.''
''You can thank me by getting off my floor.'' He said rudely
''Ok bye.'' I said in mock politeness. We climbed the stairs and I knocked on the door. To my surprise Nick opened it. I slapped him hard. Colbilyne put her hand over her mouth.
''I deserved that.'' He said.
''Talk about mom ever again and you'll get worse than that.'' I said. ''Actually I came to apologize to you. Plus I heard the cute new British girl was coming and I wanted to invite her to dinner tonight. It was Colbilyne's turn to look shocked.
''Sure.'' She said.
''Before you guys go my oldest brother, the one with custody over me, not his twin, wanted me to invite you guys to lunch next Saturday at my house his name is Brody. Please come.'' I said.
''Sure.'' They said at the same time. They left and I walked around to look for Carter.
''Hey.'' He said from behind me.
''Hey, you heard the whole thing about lunch right?'' I asked.
''Yeah I'll be there.''
''Thanks.''
''No problem.''
''So...''
''Well I asked you here so I could ask you a question.''
''Ask away my friend.''
He pulled out a bouquet of roses. Yellow white and blood red. My heart sped way up.
''Will you....''
''Yeah?''
''Go to dinner with me tonight... as my girlfriend?'' He finished the question and I got really nervous.
''Yes, Carter I'll go out with you. But not tonight. It's too quick and my brothers aren't exactly your biggest fans." I said slowly.
''Really? Great. I'll grab my jacket and keys. I'll just take you home. I'm assuming little red was your ride?" He said. He was right.
''Carter you don't have to that's too much, I can walk." I said. He got his stuff and put me in the car anyway. Opening all the doors for me again.
He is so sweet sometimes
My brain told me, for once I agreed his clock said it was nearly five. We were buckling up and started talking about our families.
''So is Dustin your only brother?" I asked
"Yeah, and sometimes he's too much." He said laughing.
''I know the feeling."
''I know but your the youngest right?" He asked
''Yeah." I nodded.
''Your life must be so easy."
''Keep talking like that and you'll be pulling me off the road.'' I teased him.
He reached across the car and locked my door.
''Why did you do that?'' I asked.
''I prefer you alive.''
''Ok''
"I can speak Chinese." He blurted out.
''I didn't know you can speak Chinese.'' I said.
''We spent a year in China with dad once.'' He responded.
''Really, sounds fun.''
''It was, but I was glad when we got to come home again.''
''Yeah''
''So tell me about your brothers.''
''Well I have seven of them.''
''Wow.''
''The two oldest are Brody and Kyle, thier twins but Brody wanted custody of Cason and I.''
''Oh.''
''Then there's Aron and Arnold, they're twins too. They're in college and we dont see a lot of them.''
''Mmhm''
''Then there's Harrold and Kiethon. They're the last set of twins. Kiethon is in college and Harrold stays home to look after me and Cason.''
''He sounds like a good brother.''
''Yeah, but Cason and I are closest. He don't have a twin but I'm only a year younger than him and he's very protective over me. He's the one who'll hunt you down if you hurt me.''
''Oh ok'' he sounded nervous. Probably because Cason is on the football team with him. Not to mention the bruise on my face is still fading. Lucky for me the awkward moment ended quickly. He laughed it off and I rolled my eyes. We arrived at my house and I noticed the ride took a lot longer than it should have. I looked to him for explanation.
"I may have taken the long way." He shrugged. I hoped Harold wasn't worried.
He walked me to my door and gave me his jacket.
''Keep it this time.'' He said.
''I'll wear it every day and never miss a game.'' I promised.
He kissed my cheek and walked away. I went inside and danced around the living room.
''I guess the meeting went well.'' It was Harrold. Cason must have went to bed.
''Yup.'' I replied
"So the little prick apologized?" He asked.
"The little prick is my boyfriend." I said. He became angry.
"Just because the last jerk dumped you doesn't mean you have to downgrade to a guy that would hit a girl." He fumed.
''I don't need you judging me right now. GoodNight Harold'' I fumed
''Night'' and on that note I went to bed. Hardly able to wait until morning. I wanted to talk to Cason and Colbilyne about my talk with Carter. Finally I drifted into a peaceful sleep.
