Chapter 12

"I'm sure they are together" Joey said to Ashley. Both of them were sitting next to each other on the couch of your appartment. "She's my best friend, I would have heard of this. They are not together" Ashley affirmed. "$40 that they are" Joey turned to her. "You shouldn't play with me, Richter. I always win" his girlfriend smirked. "Bullshit. They are together" Joey assured, "100% sure" "Ok. You know what? Let's bet. I will give you 40 bucks if they are, and you will give it to me if they aren't. Deal?" Ashley asked, and held her hand for her boyfriend to agree. "Hell yeah!" Joey almost shouted and tapped her hand.

The sound of the TV once more filled the room before he leaned on her again. "Just for the record, I found them on the same bed the other day" Joey winked. "Doesn't mean anything" Ashley pointed with wide eyes. "Oh come on! They have been fooling around for months now!" Joey smiled. "Doesn't mean anything either. They are not together" Ashley repeats. "They are totally together" Joey insisted.

A knock was heard on the door and without moving, Ashley shouted "It's open!", and quickly Darren joined them in the room after slamming the door behind him. "Hey pals! I'm exhausted" he exclaimed as he threw himself on the couch. "Oh my god! Pizza! » Darren almost screamed and leaned on the coffee table to grab some. Ashley playfully hit his hand and noticed for him that they had been waiting for you. "Oh, okay" he said naturally before sitting back on the couch and watching tv. Joey leaned on Ashley once more "They are so together. Darren would never wait for someone to eat pizza if it wasn't his girlfriend" Joey states with a whisper. "You're kidding, right? You can't be sure they are dating because of a pizza Joey!" she whispered back. Joey opened his arms in protest but was willing to wait for his reward. He could have bet hundreds of dollars on this.

You finally came out of the shower, apologizing for taking so long and making them wait. Ashley and Joey looked at you closely when you get closer to Darren. You kissed him on the cheek to greet him and Joey seemed disappointed. "It's freezing in here" you notice. You put your arms around you to keep you warm, but Darren had a better option. "Come here" he suggests and hold his hand to you. You smile and take his hand before sitting between his legs and cuddling into his chest. He put his arms over you and his head on yours. "Dig it" Joey whispered. Ashley sighed and managed to take the 40 dollars out of her back pocket. Joey grinned, completely satisfied with his new price. "You haven't told me about the date you went on" you point as you turn to Darren. You thought it was important for him to see other people, other women, so he would be sure he wants you, the mess.

Without even looking at him, Ashley held her hand to Joey to get her money back. She was right. "I cancelled. I told you I don't need to go on those dates. Those girls will be nothing but friends and I have enough friends already" Darren explained sincerely. Joey put back the 40 bucks she gave him, plus the 40 he owed her. 'Thank You' she mouthed with a satisfied grin. 'Shut up' he mouthed back. Both laughed loudly at their little game, and both Darren and you turned your heads to them, frowning. "What?" they both say in unison. "They are up to something" Darren whispered in your ear, without leaving his eyes from them. "I know. They are weird" you whispered back. "Hey! We're not!" they defended themselves, still in unison. They turned to each other and laughed at their coordination. You eyed Darren and shrugged.

"I waited for you to eat the pizza" Darren said proudly after a few minutes. "You did?" you turned to you, amazed. He nodded. "Aw, that's so cute. Thank you!" you pout and kissed his cheek. Ashley looked at you like you were kind of an alien or something. "And we're weird ? Girl, you are drooling over him for not eating pizza without you. What the fuck is wrong with you?" Ashley said, amazed. Joey, Darren, and you looked at each other before turning back to her and said all together "Duh. It's pizza"
