"Mary, call up Jenny Kim. Tell her the bakery is willing to do the order." I say from my computer as I read an email."I'm on it, Leslie." Mary replies with her fingers already dialling the number.
"Thanks." I mumble as I reply to another email.
These past few weeks have been hectic to say the least. After the rocky start meeting Mary, we really hit it off. Turns out , that besides having a really good fashion sense, she's got an even better personality. She's silly and fun to be around and she takes my mind off of my grief. Her and my Luna duties.
Ever since that day, in the kitchen, I've tried avoiding Sebastian as best as I can but that's easier said than done. Every night, without fail, he comes home and has dinner with me. I didn't expect this pattern of behaviour to last long, but its been weeks and Sebastian hasn't missed a date.
Every night, he comes home and he spends time with me. He tells me about his day. And I likewise do the same. Sometimes he tells me that he missed me or something he saw reminded him of me. And I don't reply to those statements. I still haven't forgiven him and so I refuse to lead him on. I refuse to let him believe that I feel the same way. When in actual fact, my heart still belongs to this same man.
After so many hours thinking over this mess we've landed in, I still don't see a way out. I still don't see how I can forgive him and not betray the brother I never got to know. I love Sebastian with every fibre in my being but I hate him too. I hate him for putting me here. Putting me in a position where I've got to chose between the father of my unborn child and my dead half brother.
"Okay, Leslie. I'm calling it a night. You should too." Mary calls out from her desk as she shuts down the computer.
"I will." I reply with my eyes on my computer screen.
"Uh huh." Mary mumbles and steps in front of my desk with her hands placed on her hips. "Leslie, you've been working for hours. Whatever you're typing can wait till tomorrow. Shut the computer down."
I look up and spot a determined and annoyed expression on my friend's face. That's Mary's signature 'don't mess with me' face.
"Alright alright." I say helplessly as I sit back and raise my hands over my head. " I'm off my email."
"You better be. I don't expect you to be at the Mating tomorrow before 7. I'll handle everything. So you and Sebastian are just there to have fun." Mary says with her back to me as she walks out the door.
"I'm the Luna you know!" I yell at her retreating back.
"Goodnight to you too, Leslie!" Mary yells back with a quick raise of her hand.
I sigh and sit back against my office chair. Pie readjusts his position on my feet and I reach down to stroke his soft fur.
" I am the Luna. Aren't I, boy?" I murmur lovingly as I scratch his sweet spot. "Will you be my date to the Mating? Huh? Will you?"
"There's a Mating tomorrow?" Sebastian calls out from the study doorway and I startle in my seat.
Sebastian's leaning against the door jab with his hands folded across his chest. His shirt and hair are rumpled but he still manages to look deliciously handsome.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. I just like to watch you when you're happy."
"It's Carina's and George's Mating tomorrow." I say and completely ignore his other comment.
"What time?"
"It starts at 7. But I want to go earlier just to tie up any last minute details or emergencies."
