As the sky continues to darken, Sebastian and I run in silence. Every once in a while he playfully nudges me with his wolf's body and I return the favour. Sebastian's wolf towers over me. He's running at my side but by the way he is built, I can tell that his wolf can run faster. Truly, his wolf is a magnificent creature. Upon closer inspection, his fur is not only grey but has a gold tinge to it. Now, he acts playful with me but I can tell that he is still alert to predators in the forest around us.
Its not long before we reach my cabin and I try to imagine how it would look like to a stranger. My home is a 1-storey cabin. The cabin's exterior is completely brown from the wood it was made out of. There's a small porch with a swing. Around the porch are flowers and plants that have long wilted due to the cold in autumn season. Inside, there are 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room and an office. The furniture is very simple and all bought from Ikea. The walls are the brown of the cabin's wood. To me, this is homey and perfect but I'm suddenly anxious to know what Sebastian thinks of my home.
I climb the porch steps still in wolf form and gently push the door open with my head. I always leave the door slightly ajar and unlocked when I run. Even though my cabins is on the outskirts, I'm still in pack territory so I know no one would dare to try to steal anything. And even if they did, I don't really have anything of value to steal.
As I slowly walk down the hall into my bedroom, I hear Sebastian behind me. I leave Sebastian in the hall and walk into my bedroom and slowly nudge the door shut with my head. I enter my bathroom and change back into human form. I'm just about to use the toilet when I spot myself in the full-length mirror. My normally straight brown hair is a complete mess on my head. My dark brown eyes are wide and a bit red from running in the biting cold wind. Similarly, my cheeks are flushed and my lips are red from Sebastian's thorough kisses. There are smudges of dirt all over my skin from lying on the forest floor. There's a bit of blood and semen between my thighs from earlier. Overall, I look like a wild forest nymph and I don't know how I feel about that.
The sound of the wind howling against the window in my bathroom snaps me out of my thoughts and I remember that I left Sebastian in my hallway. I quickly pee and wipe the blood and semen away. I put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and I walk out of my bedroom. Sebastian is sitting in the middle of the hallway still in wolf form facing my door and glaring at me. I imagine he isn't too happy being left out of my room. I walk around him to shut the front door then I turn around to face him.
Sebastian is still glaring at me and even though I know I'm his mate and therefore he would never hurt me, it's still a daunting sight. His steady and clear gaze reinforces my thought that he is a dominant wolf in his pack. He must want to change back into human form and so I walk past him to my father's bedroom down the hall.
I hear him follow me down the hall. As I push the door open into my father's room, I hear Sebastian let out a growl behind me. I turn to look behind me but he pushes past me to walk into my father's bedroom. He slowly prowls around the room all the while growling. I walk to the closet and open it to look inside for clothes that Sebastian can wear. While my father was considered a big man, Sebastian is bigger and taller. So it takes me a few minutes before I successfully locate a pair of jeans and a button up plaid shirt that I think Sebastian may be able to fit. I turn around with the clothes in my hands and I see Sebastian change into human form.
Once again I'm struck by his masculine beauty. He's so handsome and it suddenly strikes me that this man is my mate. The thought fills me with a mixture of happiness and fear. What if he regrets claiming me? We barely know each other. What if he wants to take another wolf as mate?
At the thought of another wolf claiming our mate, my wolf growls menacingly. "Mine!", she barks in my head.
"Quiet.", I say to my wolf in my head.
Sebastian walks up to me naked but he doesn't take the clothes I hold up to him. As he comes closer, I can see raw fury in his eyes and he's baring his teeth at me. I'm very confused as to how I've angered him but I'm also thoroughly scared.
Sebastian very slowly leans close to me and says quietly with chilling anger, "Do you have a male?"
I'm too stunned to answer and just ask, "What?"
But he's not satisfied with that answer. "Do.You.Have.A.Male.", he repeats but this time insinuating each word individually.
"Why would you ask me that?", I say.
"Because this whole house smells like a male. This room smells like a male. These clothes you want me to wear smell like a male. So I will ask you again do you have a male?", he says with that quiet voice.
"No I don't."
"I warn you Leslie. Don't lie to me. Why does this house smell like a male?", he says but with much more anger in his eyes.
And in that moment, I realise that the smell of the other male is my father's scent. I've gotten used to the scent and I don't even realise its' there anymore. And I also realise that he's angry with me about the thought of me being in a relationship with another male.
With this realisation comes anger of my own. Who does he think he is? He may be my mate but we just met. Essentially we're strangers. So what if I was dating someone now. We both know I would have broken up with them to be with my mate. This is perfectly acceptable in the werewolf community. So he has no right to direct that glare at me. Many wolves date before either of them find their mate or they settle for someone else.
I glare right back into Sebastian's eyes and say, "My father. That's my father's scent."
Immediately, he calms down and stops glaring at me. He grabs the clothes out of my hands and turns to put them on. But I'm still angry. I leave him in the bedroom and walk to the kitchen with my hands fisted by my sides. Better by my sides than planted in his face where I want them to be.
