Russia would usually pick a sunflower (or any other plant, but dominantly sunflowers) from their garden and place it inside the house, going as far to even name it and nurture it like a child.
Russia treats the plants in the garden like pets because they (Russia[s]) knows it's the only thing that wouldn't reject them.
