She confronted her friends again, and apologized. This time they didn't ignore her and actually agreed to hear her out.She told them the entire story. They were all puzzled and somewhat annoyed.
"I don't know," one of them sighed, "there's something weird about him. Just be careful."
"There's nothing weird about him. I don't know why you would conclude that."
"No need to get defensive," another one added. "Anyway, let's leave this topic behind us. We need help on the Ap Lit homework. Can you lend us your answers."
"Sure."
She couldn't help, but feel slightly empty.
No wonder they listened.
