She didn't want to hear this from someone else. She was frozen. Tears streamed down.

"He doesn't even have siblings. Or parents. He was forced into isolation. Forced into silence. He-"

"Stop, please." Sam broke out of her frozen state. Felt trepidation hold her down. She didn't want to hear anything else. She wants to hear it from him.

The girl didn't finish talking. Instead she heaved a long sigh. Then walked away. Shoulders slouching. Sadness trailing after her. Like a shadow.

And now Sam was crouched down.

Head hung low. Eyes swollen.

Felt suddenly weary. How did that girl know. About him.

She heard tired footsteps making their way towards her.

The boy crouched down. Seemed puzzled. He looked sideways.

"She left." A mutter left her lips.

He gazed down at her. Placed his hand on her head.

He froze.

She wanted to ask. Everything. But she couldn't. Something was still pulling her away from asking.

He lowered his hand to her cheek. Placed his thumb under her eye. Wiped the tears. He didn't ask this time. Why she was crying. He stared at her briefly. Then pulled her in.

And wrapped his arms around her.
