~ The battle between the heart and the mind is always the toughest~

It had been four months Nandini started working for The Malhotra Industries. Everything had been running smooth. She had made many friends and she enjoyed her life here. Even working with her Boss was fun. But yet, just like the first day his smile had not convinced her, it still did not. Somewhere even Manik had started to observe that but then it did not matter that much because they shared a very professional relationship. And then Nandini could not explain her confusion to anyone because she did not have any rational explanation for anything, it was just an intution after all.

One morning, Manik didnot come to office. When Nandini came by her usual time she found everyone else busy in their work and she thought that may be Manik was early today but on entering the cabin, she found it empty. The interesting thing was all her day's work were assigned on her table and she was given half day leave. Confused with the actions, she went to Kavita ji.

" Kavita ji, is sir on leave?", Nandini asked, frowning at her.

Kavita ji glanced at her and passed her a sympathetic smile.

" It's normal Nandini, Manik sir never comes to office on this day. Even I have no clue why. It isn't his birthday for sure", she joked at the end to easen up the situation and Nandini gave her a formal smile, before walking back to the cabin.

Nandini could not understand why she was not happy with a half day leave and why it was disturbing her that she won't see her boss that day but then the most difficult thing in life is sometimes not understanding your own heart.

Out of the blue the landline rang startling her. It was Aakash from second floor, finance department. He called to ensure that some documents which needed to be submitted to the client today were ready. Nandini tried remembering which papers and then it striked her, those papers were yet to be signed by Manik. Now, the clients needed them today and she slapped her forehead in annoyance of forgetting that important a work. Thanking Aakash for the reminder, she assured him to get the papers before the due time.

Now, although she had promised Aakash, she was stressed for Manik won't come to his office and neither was he answering  his phone. After trying for an hour she had no other option left than going to his house and  getting the signature, provided he was at his home and not somewhere else. She was worried about him and wanted to make sure he was alright, even though she didn't want to accept it. Taking his address from the reception she hired a taxi and went to his house.

For once she was startled at the ambience of the mansion, three storey with the top floor having a full balcony and swing, it was more like a palace, she giggled at the thought for what else could you expect from a CEO of such a grand business empire.

Shrugging all the thoughts she was about to ring the door bell when she saw the main gate open. She entered the mansion and was again bewildered, it was much more than just beautiful. Her chain of thoughts were halted by an elderly person who was also equally shocked on seeing a girl here at the mansion.

"Yes, how may I help you?", He aksed, snapping her out of her thoughts.

"Yes actually, I needed some urgent signatures of Manik sir. Office work", Nandini raised her hand to show the papers, she was scared and she didn't know why.

"I am afraid dear, he doesn't really meet anyone today", Kaka spoke, with a tinge of an ancient sadness in his voice, that didn't go unnoticed by Nandini.

"It's really important. If you allow, I will just go and ask him once, please?", She requested again, her doe shaped eyes ready to moisten any moment.
