                                                                           Legolas

"Excuse me?" I was not going to be betrothed to some Lady I haven't met!

"You will be betrothed to Lady Malrin. She's going to be coming for The Feast of the Starlight tonight, so everyone will see who your lovely bride will be!" Ada clasped his hands and grinned.

I on the other hand, did not grin, but frowned. Behind me I heard footsteps move slowly, but it was probably a servant.

"Remember, Legolas," Ada said in his regular tone now. "You are to not let anyone interfere with you and Lady Malrin's betrothal. Especially not that Captain!"

"How do you-" I was cut off by more anger.

"I've seen you with her! You are not to get any closer to her, for you are betrothed! Understand, ion nin?"

I slowly nodded my head, and left.

I don't understand why I cannot marry for love. I don't even know who Lady Malrin is! I let out a groan, and continued on walking back to my chambers.

Later today, I was getting ready for the feast. I didn't wear anything special, except for a white tunic and a silver circlet. I also carried a sword by my side in case.

I was about to go to the ballroom, when a servant delivered a message to me. "My Lord, Legolas! Lady Malrin has arrived, and King Thranduil would like you to come down now!"

I thanked him, and changed my path from the ballroom to the entrance.

"And there's my son, Prince Legolas!" I heard Ada call as I walked to see them.

I was hoping Tauriel would be there, but she wasn't. After looking for her, I looked at Lady Malrin.

She had chestnut brown hair, hazel eyes, and she wore a purple gown, with a silver circlet on her head. She was kind of pretty, but not as much as Tauriel.

"My lady," I greeted, bending down to kiss her hand.

I heard her giggle lightly, and I smiled, but I really wanted her to be Tauriel right now.

A couple minutes after introducing each other, we walked, arms linked to the ballroom. I bet Lhindir and Tauriel were having the time of their lives, while I was forced to marry Lady Malrin and walk her to the ballroom. While walking down there, Lady Malrin told me more about her, and I learned that she was from Rivendell, and was Arwen's cousin, meaning she's a royal, obviously.

Once we walked into the ballroom, everyone was silent and looking at us. I kept a smile, and so did Lady Malrin, but inside I wanted to cringe.

We sat down at a table near Ada, when he stood up, and put his hand up to announce something.

"Welcome everyone! As you see, my son has been hand in hand with this lovely heir. If you did not know, he will be betrothed to her! Please give Lady Malrin of Rivendell a welcome!"

Everyone cheered and clapped, and so did I, but I looked around for Lhindr and Tauriel.

Where could they be? I thought. They have to be here, but I do not know where.

Awhile later, I glanced over to see Ada lean in towards me.

"Ask her to dance," he whispered.

I sighed, and did as so.

"Would you like to have this dance?" I asked as nice as possible, sticking out my hand.

"Of course!" She squeaked, and took my hand.

We were the only ones, since I have to dance first, and then everyone else joins in.

She grinned at me, and I smiled back as we danced until the music stopped, and everyone clapped. I looked around to find Tauriel, and I finally saw her! She was clapping too, though. She probably doesn't have feelings for me, but with Lhindir.

I sighed, and sat down to watch everyone else dance. Of course, Tauriel and Lhindir danced, and I could feel my heart drop once again.

"Are you alright?" Lady Malrin chirped.

"What? Yeah, I am," I lied.

"Would you like to dance again?" She smiled and nudged my arm a little.

I smiled back, and took her hand as I stood up. We danced for awhile, still keeping an eye on Tauriel, until I could feel Lady Malrin pull me closer.

"Wh-" I started to say, but got interrupted by a kiss.

I was in complete shock, and tried to move slightly, but she wouldn't budge. After about 5 seconds later, we broke apart. I stared at her in shock, but she just smiled at me. What was that? We just met today, and she's already kissing me!

I glanced over to my right, where Tauriel and Lhindir were, but I didn't see either of them.

"I must excuse myself," I said as nice as possible to Lady Malrin, and left briefly to find where they were.

I walked towards Tauriel's chambers, and heard familiar voices echo through the halls.

"I'm getting tired, so I must retire to my room."

"Ok, Captain. I will see you tomorrow, correct?"

I grew suspicious and walked very quietly and peeked behind a corner to see the two talking. Tauriel was leaning against a wall, when Lhindir was in front of her.

  "Yes," she answered, now smiling.

My jealously was rising a bit.

Then, Lhindir leaned in a kissed Tauriel on the lips! I was totally shocked at what just happened.

I could feel all my insides churn, and my jealousy go to its highest peak.

I couldn't stand seeing them kiss, so I swiftly left to go back to the ballroom. Maybe Malrin was a good person to marry. Obviously, the one I wanted before was already taken by some Ellon.

I scowled at the thought, since it still lingered in my head. All I could think of was them kissing, then their relationship turn into an official couple, then marriage, then a family.

"Ada, I am getting quite tired. May I retire to my chambers?" I asked nonchalantly.

  "Yes, ion nin." He answered.

I went to my room and stared at the rose again. Does it mean anything? Just friendship? Will she ever notice me as more than a friend? If not, I guess Lady Malrin will be more than happy to be my bride.
