Tauriel
I glanced away once I saw Legolas kiss Lady Malrin. I sighed and turned to see Lhindir looking at me.
"Lhindir, can you come with me?" I asked, grabbing his hand.
I didn't want to see them kiss anymore.
"Sure, Captain," He smiled.
We walked towards my chambers, as I leaned against a wall, and him in front of me.
"I'm getting tired, so I must retire to my room," I looked at him.
"Ok, Captain. I will see you tomorrow, correct?" He asked, looking at me with a smirk on his face now.
"Yes," I whispered, smiling back at him.
I was about to leave, but before I could, he leaned in and kissed me on the lips!
I don't think I showed it, but I was in total shock at his action. He finally broke apart, and looked at me in the eye.
"Goodnight, Captain," He smiiled mysteriously, and left.
I was blushing at what happened, but I did not feel like I would want him to do that again. But then, maybe, just maybe, I could get Legolas to realize that he does love me.
I thought about it, but then realized that that was not me. I would never use someone to get someone's attention, just to later dump him.
Maybe I could just accept Lhindir's love for me, and make us a thing. Besides, Legolas wouldn't care. He's going to be betrothed to Lady Malrin, and so far, he looks like he's enjoying her.
The next day, I was about to leave from morning patrol, but King Thranduil called me over first.
"What do you need me to serve, my lord?" I bowed down.
"Two things. One, go with Lady Malrin and Legolas this evening. As their guard," he instructed. I nodded my head. "Second, do not interfere with them. I have already talked to Legolas about this, so you must not give him hope, for there is none. Understand?"
"Yes, my Lord. Where will they go?" I glanced up to look at him.
"The waterfalls, that's through the cave. Eggo!"
I quickly left, and groaned. The waterfalls he was talking about was a place Legolas and I loved to go to a lot when we were younger. We even engraved our names in a heart to mark our long lasting friendship. I would go with him again, but now everything's complicated. He'll enjoy being with Lady Malrin, while I'm just stuck as the third wheel. I wonder how these love birds will do.
Later, I got called down to see the King again. When I got there, I saw Legolas and Lady Malrin standing next to him already looking at me now. I quickly turned to King Thranduil.
"Captain Tauriel, you are to watch both Lady Malrin and Lord Legolas tonight. If anything happens to them, you will be severely punished!"
I nodded my head, and went over to both of them.
We then left, them in the front, me in the back. I was basically eavesdropping, but I don't think they cared, nor noticed.
"Through the cave, I have to go ahead first. In case anything happens," I muttered monotonously.
They watched as I walked in front of them, and through the cave, then quickly followed. I glanced behind myself to see the two looking around. Lady Malrin wasn't so pleased, from what I could tell. Royals, I thought and sighed.
We finally made it out, and towards the waterfall flowing water down to the lake.
I remembered when Legolas and I used to splash in there. It was a lot of fun, until we got back to the kingdom to see King Thranduil stress out because we were dripping water all over his floors.
I stood next to a tree with a spear in my hand, like any guard actually guarding something.
I listened to their conversation, not exactly caring for what they said, so I closed my eyes for a brief moment.
When I opened them, I glanced over at the falls. Even though the moon was out, the water still shined.
I stared at the falls until Lady Malrin asked in an annoyed tone, "What's that?" She pointed to the tree with our names engraved.
I widened my eyes, and answered immediately, "Nothing, my Lady. I do not see anything there," I tried to get her off guard, but it didn't work.
She looked closer, then gasped.
She stared at me, then Legolas, then asked, "When was this?" Now pointing to it.
"I do not know what you're talking about, my Lady," I said monotonously again.
I could see Legolas stand up and walk to me. I tightened my grip to the spear in my hand, but it didn't help anything.
"Tauriel," He whispered. "you don't have to pretend you don't know what it is!" He looked angry, but it was dark, so I couldn't make it all out.
"Yes, my Lord," I mumbled.
He furrowed his eyebrows, then turned around.
"We should be going, my Lady," He said, glancing at me coldly.
I don't know what I did, but whatever it was, it seemed to frustrate him.
Once we got back, Legolas kissed Lady Malrin's hand and said goodnight to her and his father. I just glared at them, but they didn't seem to notice.
I was on my way back to my chambers, when I felt a grasp on my wrist. Of course, it was Legolas.
I sighed, and asked, "How may I serve you, my Lord?" My back was still turned to him.
"Tauriel," I could sense his rage. "why do you act like we know nothing about each other?"
I didn't turn around, and stayed silent.
"Look at me in the eye and answer the question," He said more stern. It sounded more like a command than anything else. I finally turned around to see him glaring at me.
"I am not acting like anything, my Lord. I am simply doing my duty," I glared at him at him back.
"This is not the Tauriel I have seen a day ago. You never acted like this ever since we took you here to stay. You never called me 'my Lord' in forever!" He started to shout.
"If you are to shout at me, we should at least not be in the hall," I murmured.
"I do not care now if I shout, just answer the question!" He shouted now.
"Maybe because we don't know anything!" I sneered, then was about to stomp off, until I took off my necklace and handed it to him.
"You should give this to a person you truly love. Because right now, it means nothing to us."
What is wrong with him? I would tell him the truth, but I can't, since Thranduil will probably banish me, so I'd rather lie to him and call him "my Lord".
Maybe him and I weren't made for each other. I thought about Lhindir for a while, and decided that him and I could get a lot closer, and leave Legolas to his own business. He'll probably be a lot happier with me out of his way, anyways.
It hurt to think about that, but I think it's the best for both of us.
