When the day met the night

I was cold and miserable and needed to get inside. I had spent the better part of the day on falling my ass in the snow. By midday I'd had enough, I lied, telling Jared that I needed to take a work call, "do you want me to come with you?" he said smiling, his nose red from the cold, "no I'll be fine, you keep going" I said giving him a kiss. I got back to our room and changed, thankfully I quickly started to warm up. I heard my phone ring, it was my friend, Josephine, "hey Harper how's it going?" she said cheerfully, I sat down on the floor looking out the window over the snowy landscape. I put the phone on speaker, "Jo it's awful, we are at the snow, but actually out in it, skiing" I said, "Oh no! You hate skiing! Why are you still there?!" she groaned, "I can't just leave, I've left my stuff at his house and.. well, I don't want to go...." my voice trailed off quietly. "Oh no, Harper, are you in love with him? You silly thing, we've all heard the stories, he screws around with models and actress' and goodness knows who else, leave before he breaks your heart" she sighed. "Don't Jo..." I said quietly, silencing her, but I heard her unimpressed sigh. We talked some more about what I'd been doing. "It sounds horrid, why the hell did you even go in the first place?", "I had no choice! He sprung it on me, I couldn't say no. When it's just the two of us, it's perfect, I love it, but his friends, God, I'm sure they don't like me, they were so relieved when I left just now" I said shaking my head. "Well if you leave now you'll make it home for New Years" she said cheerfully. I didn't have time to answer, I heard a noise behind me and turned quickly, my heart sank, Jared was standing there leaning against the door jam. He was holding two hot drinks from downstairs. "Jo I've got to go" I said hurriedly, "are you okay?", "Yes I'm fine, talk soon" I hit end. I slowly got to my feet and glanced up at him, he had a disappointed look on his face. "I brought you a hot chocolate, I thought it might help you warm up" he said quietly holding it out to me. "Thank you" I nodded, I waited a moment then sighed, "how long were you standing there?" I couldn't bear the hurt look on his face. "Long enough" he went over to the couch and sat down. I wondered how much he had heard, I bit my cheek, waiting for him to say something. "You're wrong about them not liking you" he said, "I don't care to be perfectly honest, I made the effort for you" I said shrugging, he  nodded. "I think... maybe I'll leave" I said quietly, the words sticking in my throat, "leave, why?" he snapped, a shocked look on his face. "If I go you can enjoy the rest of the trip with your friends, I'll head home, I haven't left much stuff at your house..." I looked away, he shot up off the couch and was in front of me. "Why do you want to leave, because your friend told you to? No you're not leaving!" He said angrily, coming closer to me his face furious. "You can't tell me what to do Jared, you can't always have your way!" my voice was steady but I was angry, "I said, if you're miserable you can go, are you miserable? Am I making you miserable?" his voice raised. "The snow, the cold, the snide comments from your friends that's making me miserable" I snapped. "You didn't answer me, am I making you miserable?" his voice was quiet now, but sharp as a knife. "Don't..."  I said in barely a whisper turning away from him, "don't walk away!" he snarled. "It's not you.. but do you remember what I said, I didn't want to be the reason you neglect your family or friends, they'll hate me and in the end you'll resent me... I told you this would happen" I said sadly, "you know that's not true!" he was raising his voice again, I'd never seen him angry, I felt intimated but I refused to back down. "I've got a headache and I'm going to go lie down, go back to your friends Jared, I don't need a babysitter" I said sadly. "Fucking hell!" he growled. I ignored him and walked into the bedroom. I heard the door to the room slam and I knew he had left, I lay down and closed my eyes as the tears started to fall down my cheeks.

I woke up to gentle fingers trailing softly against the side of my cheeks. He was leaning on his elbow looking down at me. "How's the headache?" he said quietly, "It's better thank you" I said, he nodded. "Harper I know I promised you that you could leave, but, I don't want you to, please stay, please" he said, he leaned down softly brushing his lips against mine. I closed my eyes, I knew deep down I didn't want to go, how could I leave him. My heart clenched at the thought. I opened them and turned towards him putting my arm around his waist and leaning my head against his chest. I heard him breath a sigh of relief and felt his body relax. He put his hand on my chin lifting up my head so my face was close to his. He leaned in and his lips were on mine, his hand ran down my back over my backside and down my thigh lifting it over his hip. My hand moved up and around his neck, his kiss deepened, his tongue invading my mouth meeting mine, desperate. I could feel him, he was hard, he pressed against my thigh. His hand trailed from my neck down and under my singlet, then to my breasts, cupping one, his thumb teasing my nipple, then gently pinching it, then doing the same to the other one, this time harder. I moaned slipping my hand into his hair, holding him there. He let go and pushed me back onto the bed and I felt his hand slide down my body, slipping it under the top of my sweat pants and then sliding down into the top of my panties. His fingers slipped into my warm wet folds, finding my clit, it was swollen and I was aching for him. He circled it gently, his lips never leaving mine, nipping and kissing me. I spread my legs and moaned softly as he started moving faster. He knew exactly the right time to stop, "no!" I cried out, "shhh" he whispered into my ear and moved down to slide a finger into me, I arched my back up off the bed and pulled at his hair, I was gasping for breath. Again he brought me to the edge only to stop when he knew I was ready to come. He pulled down my pants and threw them off onto the floor, then quickly disposing of his clothes, he climbed back onto the bed and hovered over me. With his hands on either side of me, his knee pushed my legs apart and ever so slowly he slid into me, I was wet and throbbing with need. My legs wrapped around his waist and my arms around his shoulders, pulling him in deeper. He started to move and as he slid in and out of me, it felt like he was touching my very soul. Very quickly I was begging him for release, all of a sudden he slowed down, "no no don't ..." I tried pulling him back with my legs. He shook his head slightly, looking into my eyes he murmured, "tell me..." I was at a loss, "tell you what, what is it?" I said dazed. He leaned close to my ear, "Please, I want to hear you say it" he whispered, he gently peppered my neck with soft kisses. I turned away slowly shaking my head, I suddenly knew what he wanted. I turned back, those blue eyes looking straight into my heart, silently begging me. I breathed the words he wanted so desperately to hear, barely even a whisper, "I... love you" his eyes closed and he exhaled. Silently burying himself in me, he moved faster now, thrusting into me hard, I bit my lip, barely making a sound as I fell off the precipice, falling into oblivion the intensity making my body shudder. With one last deep thrust, he followed me over the edge, also silent. His rapid breaths the only indication of his release. He collapsed onto my body and lay his head on my chest, my arms cradled it as our breathing slowed, we lay lie like that for a few minutes then he moved off me, I turned to my side, away from him. I felt his arm slide around my waist and I closed my eyes, I had opened myself up to him. My heart bared completely. His placed soft kisses on my shoulder for a while then I heard his soft steady breathing and I knew he'd fallen asleep. I lay there for a while deep in thought, until I fell into a restless sleep.
