Chapter 8

The rest of the day, I'm walking around with an attitude so bad that even my friends are walking on eggshells around me. I'm not meaning to be a bitch, but Hanna brings that ugly side of me out. And let me tell you, when the final bell rang I almost ran to the locker room to get changed for my volleyball tryout. I've been practicing a little bit and I'm going to get that ball to hit her so many times, she's going to slip into a coma. Okay, so maybe not. I had a conscience unfortunately. 

So I made my way out to the volleyball court and could see Jason and Ryker playing football through the window. Because, you know that's not creepy at all! If you haven't guessed it, that last sentence was practically marinated in sarcasm. 

Just to lighten my own mood, I decide to mess with Jason a little bit. HEY HOTSHOT! I yelled in his head. He was so caught off guard that he actually jumped up like a foot in the air and got tackled by Ryker. I was the only one in the gym so I allowed myself to fall to the floor laughing. 

Why??? Why Sara?? Why do you have to be so evil? Jason complained staring at me through the window. I laughed even harder. I know your having fun laughing at my expense but the bottle blond bitch just arrived. 

Sure enough I turn around and my laughter ceases. My shred of happiness was destroyed. "I'm surprised you showed up." Hanna tells me, not shocked but displeased. Good because I don't wake up every morning to please the likes of her. 

"What? Think your little stunt today at lunch would scare me off? Because if you did, you are so far from the truth." I reply my voice sweet, but my eyes ice cold. She glares at me as does a brunette next to her. Apparently, even my life had normal high school cliches. These cliches are but not limited to: queen bee whom everyone hated yet loved, a new girl in which the queen bee dedicated her time to make her  life miserable, and the queen bee's ex interested in le new girl. Substitute le new girl for me, add a few other new kids, and give them powers to the equation , and you've got yourself my life. Oh and don't forget the part where we ran away from our past and refuse to face it. 

Hanna's annoying voice cut like a knife through my thoughts. "You're just lucky, you got off easy. The last girl to cross me ended up with a shaved head." 

"Oh did she start a new trend?" I fired back. She scoffed and walked away. I roll my eyes at her back. I take a glance at the window and Jason had gone back to playing football, but more guys had joined in. 

Coach Nelson walked in and over to me. "Alright, Parker, we're going to start with some drills and then play a game to see how you do. If you make the team, I'll let you know tomorrow and if so, give you a practice schedule." 

Tryouts went great. I had so much more stamina then all the tall twigs that passed themselves as girls and could actually keep up with everything. When we were running laps, I may have 'accidentally' willed Hanna's shoelaces to untie and cause her to trip and fall flat on her face. Just like when I first played volleyball with her, it took all my willpower not to laugh. I didn't even smirk. When we got to the actual game, Hanna got to choose teams. Of course me being on the opposite. Hey I'm not complaining. The more chances I get to show this chick up, the better. 

Halfway through the game, we had a rally going and I was getting bored. All I wanted to do was bring some action to this game so I did what every other rational person would do. I spiked the ball. I hit it harder then I thought was humanly possible and my team gained the point. 

"Nice spike, Parker!" Coach yelled. I look Hanna straight in the eye and gave her a smug smirk. She tsked in reply and went back to the game. Needless to say, my team won the game. They constantly gave me openings to spike the ball and gain easy points. I didn't argue, it was helping my team. And not only that, it was hilarious when my one of my spikes hit Hanna in the face. That one was on accident people. I didn't mean for it to happen, but I'm so happy it did.
