"So, coach is letting tryout for the volleyball team?" Hanna said with a look of disgust on her face.

"Yeah, do you have a problem with that?"

"No. Not yet anyway. After all I am the captain."

"I know."

"You know? How?"

I decided to rub this in her face. "Ryker told me. You know, kind of like a heads up." I said with a smirk on my face.

"Oh really?"

"Yeah, really. Now if you excuse me I have to change so I can get to my next class." Then I brushed past her and changed back into my clothes. Then I took my hair out of its pony tail and brushed it out. Then I made my way outside to meet Jason.

"Okay your aura is going crazy. What did you do?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" Playing innocent.

"You did something. I know it. And if it's not by your aura, then by the look in your face."

"Okay fine. Hanna stopped me as soon as I stepped into the locker room. She got all mad because I told her Ryker told me she was captain as a heads up. Then she got all defensive. But I swear that's all. I didn't hit her."

"I would hope so. Now come on or we're going to be late." We ran all the way to our next class. I forgot it was Spanish, because when we walked in the teacher greeted us with:

"¡Hola! ¿Cómo te llamas?"

"What now?" I responded with.

"New students I presume?"

"Yea." Jason answered.

"Ah that makes sense. Okay well what I said to you was 'Hello, what's your name?' So what are your names?"

"I'm Jason Hays."

"Sara Parker."

"Well it's a pleasure to meet you Jason and Sara. Please take your seats." A quick glance around the room clarified that Hanna was not anywhere in this class to trip me. So I smiled and sat down. The rest of the class went by quickly. Mrs. Gonzalez, our teacher, taught the class in both Spanish and English. She was really fun and gave us hints on how to remember some of the words. By the end of class, I had learned how to say 'Hello my name is Sara. How are you?' in Spanish.

The rest of the day went by slowly and when the final bell rang, Jason and I met Abby and Christi outside. "So how was the rest of your day?" Christi asked obviously hoping it had gotten better. I told her everything that happened in P.E. and how Spanish was. She gave me a high five when I told her about how I hit Hanna with the volleyball.

We started walking home but someone pulled up in a 2002 Nissan Altima next to us. The window rolled down and we saw the face of the driver.

"Hey Ryker." Jason said.

"Hey. I was wondering if you guys wanted a ride home?"

Yes or no guys? I asked them. The nodded.

"Sure. Thanks." I said. This time I rode shotgun and Abby, Christi, and Jason were in the back. Christi and Abby were deep in conversation about some random topic and Jason was reading To Kill a Mockingbird.

"So how was everything with Hanna?"

"It was fine. But at lunch you failed to mention she was you ex-girlfriend."

"Yeah, exactly. Ex-girlfriend. I broke up with her  a long time ago. She wasn't a good person and I didn't feel any different when I was with her. Actually the day I broke up with her was the best day of my life. Well up until today."

"What happened today?" I asked curiously.

 "You happened."

"Me?"

"Yeah. Finally someone with enough guts to stand up to Hanna. You don't let her push you around."

"Thanks...I think."

"Yes that was a compliment Sara."

"You called me Sara."

"That is your name isn't it?" He looked over at me.

"Well yea. But today you kept calling me Parker?"

"That's what I do with people I feel comfortable with. I called you Sara because it expresses how serious I am." He looked straight into my eyes.

I smiled. "Eyes on the road, Jameson."

He laughed and turned back towards the road. "You called me Jameson."

"That is your name isn't it?" I said jokingly. He laughed some more. "I wanted to see what it was like calling you by your last name." I said at last.

"And?"

"And I like Ryker."

"Glad to hear that." I nodded. "So how far do I drive out?"

"We live near the edge of town it's not that far now." Five minutes later, Ryker pulled up to our house. "Thanks for the ride." I said looking at him.

"Anytime. It's definitely better then having to face Hanna harassing me about Homecoming." He said with a smile.

"Yea. Thanks Ryker!" Abby and Christi said at the same time.

"No problem. Hey Jason if you want maybe tomorrow while Sara's at volleyball, I can take you to the football field and you can show me how good you are."

"That'll be cool." He replied.

"Aw how sweet. You two are at the beginning of your bromance!" I teased.

"You're totally jealous of us!" Jason joked.

"As if!" Then we all started busting up laughing. "Thanks again Ryker." Then we got out of his car and he drove away.

"You so like him." Jason said from behind me.

"I do not! He's a friend and that is it." I said defending myself.

"Your eyes practically glow when you're around him and your aura glows just as bright."

"You know I really hate that you can read my aura." He grinned. "But he makes me happy. Is that a crime? Just like you make me happy, but I don't like you." I added.

"I see your point."

"Good now let's get inside already." And that ended the first day of our new lives.
