YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Ha ha I'm kidding...nah I'm really not. No complaining though, I did warn you

Max's POV

After my shower, I walked back to my room only to find Jacob there, waiting for me.

"Can I help you?" I ask him.

"You said you wanted to take a nap." He answers with a 'duh' expression.

"Yeah, but I kind of need to get dressed." I tell him slowly like I was talking to a child. And with having him as a best friend, I might as well be.

"You could just stay in the towel." He smirks.

"Jake." I glare at him.

He puts his hands up as a sign of surrender. "Okay, fine. I don't want to die today." He jokes before going into his room and closing the door. I let out a sigh. What am I going to do with that boy?

I walk over to my closet and throw on a random shirt and loose jeans. I don't even other messing with my hair. Subconsciously I begin to twiddle the ring on my necklace. The ring that I haven't taken off in over 10 years for NO reason at all. I look down at it and smile. Jake gave me the ring when we were really young, like 5. It was a gift to me for our first anniversary of our friendship. The ring itself is this steel-colored metal that never rusts or break. On one of the sides on the outside, it says 'Matrix' and on the other side said 'Infinity'. On one side of the ring on the inside says 'Max' and the other 'Jacob'. He told me it was a symbol that we would always be linked and that we were meant to stay together.  The rest of the ring had slight engravings over the words of a big infinity sign.

It's on my necklace because at the time I was only five and Jake felt really stupid because it didn't fit. So to stop his whining and apologies, I put it on a dog tag chain and put it on and promised him I would never, ever, take it off as long as I loved him, needed him, missed him, still believed in him, and that he was my perfect other half. I'm serious. There's nobody in this universe that could understand me or be more perfect for me than Jake. He's been with me through everything. The horrible foster homes, the bullying, puberty...now that was a little awkward...anyway you get the point. Jacob Stone has always been and always will be my best friend.

"Did you fall asleep on me, Maxy?" Jake calls. I snap out of my trip down memory lane and walk into his room and immediately climb into his bed next to him. In turn he pulls me closer and holds me snug against him. "What were you thinking about?" He asks me quietly. He knows I was in deep thought.

"Us." I answer vaguely. I'm tired and all I want to do is sleep. Last night I slept in a flipping corner on his lap, I think I deserved just one night where I was able to fall asleep in my best friend's arms in an actual bed.

"What about us?" He asks.

"The ring." I smile as I answer. I look up at him and see him smiling down at me as well. He untangles his hand from mine and gently brings it up to my neck. My breath hitches as he slowly brings the necklace out from under my shirt and his fingers trace my neck. He then holds the ring in one hand and takes my hand with the other. Jake brings our hands up the ring and he slides it on my ring finger. I'm hardly breathing as I watch him and once he's done he rests his forehead on mine and his soft brown eyes stare into my dark ones.

"It fits." He whispers, his voice slightly husky. I don't say anything. I just continue to stare into his eyes. He's still holding onto my hand that is now connected to my necklace because of the ring. He breaks eye contact only just to bring his lips down to my finger with the ring on it. He gently kisses it and I breathe in a ragged breath. He looks back up to my face and kisses my forehead. Then each of my cheeks and then my chin.
