Chapter Six

I sat awkwardly at the desk my assignment for science lying in front of me, I was thinking in my head I hope I didn’t receive an F when I’d get it back after how I’d lacked concentration over the past week.

My mind could only think of one person, Nate.

Having his last look in my mind I didn’t notice he’d walked into the class room and was making his way to our desk.

I felt him sit down and shift as far to the left as he could, I looked up to see him glaring at me and a note sitting in front of me.

Dear Evelina

I’m sorry, please forgive?

I scribbled back instantly, noticing the teacher was handing out quiz papers.

Nate

Sorry for what there is nothing to be sorry about, random apology accepted. Don’t blame yourself, it was my fault.

His look changed to one of being content, I extended my hand and touched his making his hand clasp in mine so we could briefly hold hands under the table. He smiled at that and I smiled back feeling like I could feel his blood running through his body.

You wouldn’t think this moment would change everything but it did, I knew I couldn’t deny my feelings for him and nor could he for me.

“So after school tomorrow you want to go trekking?” asked Nate as we walked back from class to our lockers, we’d not stopped holding hands since class and now we were about to go off to lunch together.

I totally could feel eyes on us but I really couldn’t care what they thought, whatever was going on between Nate and I was strictly Nate’s and my business.

“Well I’m knowing its silly to admit this but I’m a bit frightened about going into those woods, I just have this feeling it’s a bad idea!” I said shoving the books into the locker rather untidily.

“Okay then, so what do you suppose we do?” He asked leaning against the locker.

“How about we go out somewhere and get a soda and then we come back to my house and work on this new science assignment?” I asked.

“Sounds fair, but how about on the weekend we go on a trek to this really cool place I know?”

“Sure, deal!” I said smiling brightly.

But just as I was smiling and Nate was smiling back and I could feel this all leading into a kiss a girl’s scream was heard in the far distance. Everyone looked around confused and suddenly frightened, but no one started freaking out to the girl was running down the corridor drenched in blood.

“It killed him!” she screamed and wailed, this time a teacher was trying to reach her and calm her down but she kept on screaming.

Concerned Nate let go of my hand and went to walk down the direction the girl had come from, I caught on and grabbed hold of his hand.

We walked around a corner and came to the stairway and saw blood smeared over the walls. A man’s body laying on the floor a thick pool of blood coming out of his body I gasped at the sight and hid behind Nate.

I wanted to be sick, when I realised it was our science teacher. But my nausea held back when I heard the screaming girl being dragged back to where Nate and I stood the scene of the crime with the Principal.

“What happened?” He asked the girl, but she was too freaking out to answer anything all she kept saying was yelling “It did that!”

It, what did she mean by it?

Nate pulled me just as alarm bells began to fill the speaker system and a message saying “All students please make your way to the quad.”

Driving home all I could think about was what had that girl meant by it?

Even laying in bed trying to sleep it was still bugging me and 12 hours had past.

My phone buzzed and I opened the text message.

Still on up for going out for the day even though no school?

Nate.

I had to think on that, but texted back instantly knowing even though today at school had been scary I wasn’t about to miss getting to spend the day with Nate.

Sure, pick me up at 9am. Can’t wait! :D

Evelina.

I put the phone on my night stand and crawled under the covers to have my dream about the wolf again.
