[ALICE'S POV]

It all started with a phone call.

A single phone call. Mom suddenly went missing and my dad went bonkers about it. I knew she was dead before dad announced.

I was only 12 years old when she died.

But what did I really felt inside that time? It felt right. It felt right that my mother went missing. It felt like I know that she was only playing a part.

But I still missed her. She felt like a missing piece in my life.

Then began the dreams. The nightmares. Kate, Seth, and Eric. Hex. Abilities. Chris, Miguel, and Jacob.

My life changed in a blink of an eye.

I hate blacking out. And if it's true, I'm glad that it would be the last time. I hope.

I opened my eyes to see Gideon towering over me with a concerned look on his face. I suddenly remembered everything recently and the fact that we were being attacked.

"Oh, shit!" I jolted up, looking around. The clearing was empty, except for the two of us.

"I took care of it." Gideon sighed and sat back down.

"I'm sorry. It's just that, this blacking out would always come at an unexpected time." I told him, "How long was I out?"

"Almost an hour already."

"We should get back to the house." I stood up and he did too, "You managed them all? Damn."

"Hey, it wasn't that easy. I had to keep them away from decapitating you."

"Thank you very much for that."

We ran towards the path where the house should be. The sun is still not up, but I hope we could get there before anybody else in the house wakes up.

"Alice, wait." Gideon stopped and looked around.

"What?" I whispered, looking around as well.

"I could hear people. Footsteps." he whispered back. I panicked, "Climb over that tree and hide. I stay behind this bush!" he urged to me.

I just literally jumped high on the tree. I didn't know I could do that. I could hear the faint talking and some arguing. I was about to shift my position so I could get to a higher branch when a loud bark startled me. I looked down.

"Hex!" my voice came out as a whisper. If Hex was here, then that means they woke up. I am so dead. So dead. I peeked around the trunk and, thank God for the night vision, saw Chris. Then Miguel and Seth. And my heart shouted joy when I saw Kate, Eric, and Jacob too. I couldn't keep it to myself.

"Kate!" I shouted from the top of my lungs. Yes, shouted. I sounded like I was calling for help. Their heads turned where I was and to the sound of my voice. I must have looked stupid hugging the tree trunk. Gideon emerged from behind the bush and called out for Chris. I saw Seth ran first and I called out for him. I jumped down the tree to meet him and hug him. And when he did hugged me back, I thought I was gonna die from the tight hug.

"Damn you, damn you, damn you." Seth repeated those words as I was trying to free my arms.

"Hex escaped and I followed him and I panicked because I thought I got lost in the forest. Sorry." I explained to him.

"Next time, you wake me up." Seth grabbed my face and kissed me. It's so embarrassing in front everybody else, unless they're watching us, so after a short while, I pulled away.
