Dreams.
A series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep. Usually, they're peaceful and brilliant, sometimes too good to be true, the strangest combinations compiling absolute bliss.
But, what if the same concept of far out combinations made something up much more...horrifying.
What if your having an intimate moment with your boyfriend in the middle of the Bahamas, a far away paradise, and your dead grandma was to walk in naked.
Or your supposedly a Victoria's Secret Angel and you're in the best lingerie of the show: the headliner of the entire event. But, when you walk out stage you're grouped with a bunch of little girls in tutus and when you look out at the crowd all you see are confused parents with their video recorders.
Despite how horrifying those scenarios are, I would much rather pick those than the one I was in right here, right now. Here I am, slowly walking towards a circle of people I do and don't know. The ones I do: Luke, Ray, Katherine Peterson, and Jai next to me.
Let me just briefly explain how this blend is not ideal for me. Luke, obviously, is my boyfriend for about a month now.
Katherine Peterson, the girl who's been making my life hell since freshmen year. We'll both be seniors in around two months, classmates for a fourth year in a row, but she still treats me like the dirt under her fingernails.
Then we have Ray, also known as Katherine's brother and Damien's cousin, who I made out with in a closet during the party I went to with Damien. The same party where Damien fingered me and Ray heard. He knows it all.
Finally, Jai. The sweetest and most loyal person I've met in a while from what I've seen, who likes me. Also, being the twin to my current boyfriend. Perfect. Need I say more for a reason why I wish I could drift away into the air and never to be seen again?
The only thing that would make this worse would be if someone else in particular was to show up, but he doesn't know any one here so that would be impos-.
Suddenly a car pulls up behind the car I just got out from with Jai. It's a familiar expensive car; one that's been driving me to work almost everyday for the past week or so.
"Hey, sorry I was a little late!" Zach calls as he exits his own car, lightly jogging up to us. I could see the expression of his face to confusion change when he notices Luke, Jai, and then me.
"Hey, dude! This is Luke, my man, Jai, his brother, Katherine, my sister, some of her friends, and Alex." A smirk plays across his lips as we make eye contact before I drop my gaze to the ground and rub my arm awkwardly.
"You know Alex?" Luke asks Ray.
"Yeah, I could say we've gotten to know each other pretty well." I could hear the grin on his face while he speaks.
"Sick! My best friend and my girl friend-"
"Wait, she's your girlfriend?" Ray asked, obviously confused. Just then I feel arms around me and look up to find Luke embracing me from behind.
"Yeah." He kisses me on my cheek, something I would love if it weren't for all the eyes on us. I look around the circle to find both Zach and Jai looking away, Ray confused, Katherine rolling her eyes, and her friends picking at their nails.
One of the girls speak up after a couple of moments of silence. She seems a bit familiar along with the pink Jeep I immediately recognized from the night Jai told me he liked me. "Well we should start heading to the pool." She turns around and begins to walk down the driveway as everyone follows. We're in a relatively wealthy neighborhood, close to Katherine's house, so there isn't a gate separating the backyard and front yard. As soon as the pool comes into view, I marvel at the size of it. The yard as a whole is huge, and the pool makes a large portion of it, along with beach chairs surrounding it almost completely. Theres also a jacuzzi attached to the pool but about a foot above it, behind it a small field with two soccer nets on opposite sides of one another.
