Dedicated to Ravali_beee for always supporting me no matter how bad anything is!

------

"Hi mom!" I grinned at her, showing off my pearly whites.

I could tell she was facing mixed emotions. Relieved to see that I'm alive, angry that I was so careless, surprised to see me with a guy, shocked that I was talking to him, and most of all furious of everything I've done.

"Christina Leigh Rose, you are in very, very bad situation with me right now." Her eyes were filled with anger.

"And you. Who are you?" My mom snarled at Ethan in a very rude manner.

How dare you, mom!

"I'm Ethan, a friend of Christina. It's a pleasure to meet you ma'm." He held out his hand, smiling.

Friend.

Mom coldly shook it and nodded at him, her mouth in a firm thin line.

"Both of you, get in the car."

I plopped on the passenger seat, not dare enough to sit by Ethan. I am still very confused about what I am feeling about him at the moment.

"I'm not even going to ask how you ended up here by a gas station on the road, but I want you to know that I am very disappointed in you, both of you."

Ethan looked afraid, and a bit guilty, which was hilarious of course, so I just stifled a laugh and smirked at him when my mom wasn't looking.

Too bad though. She was looking.

"Enough with your googly eyes, I'm not in the mood to witness them."

Gaah, seriously, mom?

------

"Bye, Teeny Tina!" Ethan called out before he trudged into his house and slammed the door.

You just had to, didn't you?

Mom raised an eyebrow at me. "We're going to have a talk once we get home."

Oh no. Oh no. Oh no.

-----

Mom sat down rather quickly onto the sofa and faced me, a huge smile on her face.

         "So...do you like him?"

If I was drinking something, I would've spit it out. So this is what she meant by talk?

"No way! I hate him with a passion!" I frowned at her ridiculousness.

         "Denial, denial." She looked amused.

          "Mooom!" I felt myself blush.

"You're blushing! Aww this is so cute!"

I ran upstairs in embarrasment and jumped onto my bed.

Do I like him?

------

The annoying alarm blared into my ears and I groaned, mumbling something incoherent under my breath.

I don't want to go to school!

You have to.

I don't wanna!

Too bad! Now get up, you lazy bum.

No.

Come on, let's do this together. 1-2-3!

I forced myself out of bed and walked to the restroom, scratching my butt.

Did I just have a conversation with myself? I'm so weird.

I grimaced at my reflection in the mirror, squeezing my eyes shut. My hair slightly resembled a bird's nest, which was really upsetting.

Uggh...

I grabbed my Dora the Explorer toothbrush (shh...it's a secret!) and tried to get my blue, minty toothpaste on without it falling off.

I failed.

Cursing my shaking hands, I tried again and quickly brought the toothbrush to my mouth before it fell.

Man, getting up in the morning is so complicated.

After taking a nice warm shower, I stepped into my room and walked into the closet, a green fluffy towel wrapped around my body.

I finally decided on my favorite pair of jeans, and a slightly see-through top, which was layered over a camisole. I pulled on boots, grabbed my phone, slinged my bag over my shoulder, and headed out to the bus stop.

~3 HOURS LATER ~

I eyed the large, white bandage wrapped around Ethan's head and stared at him sadly. He looked so peaceful lying on the hospital bed, and a hint of a smile on his face.

He's always smiling. Unlike me. I thought bitterly.

This is all my fault. Ethan is in danger all because of me. All my fault. All mine.

Tears sprung to my eyes. All my fault.

-FLASHBACK-

I can't believe I have to play this stupid game, I thought sourly to myself.

I wasn't paying attention, and didn't notice the volleyball flying right toward my face. Fast.

"Christina!" I heard Ethan call my name in panic. "Watch out!"

I shut my eyes tightly, and knew that my life was over. That volleyball can kill.

But I never felt it. Ethan did.

"Ethan!" I frantically screamed. He was spawled on the floor, completely knocked out.  Crimson red blood trickled down his face.

The ball had hit him square on the forehead. And guess who threw it? Stephanie.

"Happy now?" I snarled venomously when I saw her step back in horror as she realized what she had done.

But everyone was looking pointedly at me. Their expression...it was as if...it was my fault.

Then it hit me. This was all my fault. If I had payed attention...

"Ethan..." I whispered shakily, and my knees buckled.

He did it for me.

-PRESENT-

The doctor entered the room, a clipboard in her hands. She was blonde, with fierce blue eyes filled with determination. Her hair was tied in a tight ponytail and her hands moved quick and expertly. I trusted her to help Ethan. I could tell she would do anything to save him.

"Ma'm, you need to leave the room now."

I nodded and smiled, leaving the room with my hopes high. Nothing would happen to Ethan...right?
