"Christina Rose, please report to Mr.York's room. Thank you."

Those words played loudly in the speakers and everyone turned and stared at me, a smirk on their face. My teacher stopped talking and pointed at the door, with that same disapproving face she always gives me. I shrugged and walked out the classroom, trying to disguise the panic surging throughout my body.

Knocking on the door as politely as possible, I tightened my ponytail and prepared for a bad day.

" Come in."

His voice was surprisingly calm but that freaked me out even more. Forcing a smile, I sat down on an uncomfortable wooden chair. Mr.York eyed me thoughtfully.

" I'm proud of you."

He said, simply. I looked up in horror.

Has he gone crazy?

Mr.York smiled, amused at my shock.

"I planned everything that happened yesterday, I was trying to make you mad. Though I must admit, it was quite startling when you hollered so loudly."

What? He planned it? I was just a fool,  falling into his trap! But why?

"You must be wondering why."

Creepy.

"I want you to stand up for yourself as you did yesterday, but try not to be so...unpleasant."

I slowly nodded.

So I get out of this mess free?

"But you still owe me detention, of course, due to the rudeness."  His voice had a tinge of bitterness.

 Shoot.

Mr.York happily handed me my detention slip back.

"In the detention room, after school." He said and dismissed me.

I was still recovering from the shock as I walked zombie-like back to class. My butt felt numb.

Ouch.

------

I awkardly tapped on my English Teacher's shoulder. "Is that the Detention Room?" I pointed to the opposite door."

Ms. Monroe gave me a strange look. "Yes, that is."

I thanked her and walked toward the entrance, my heart beating wildly and beads of sweat forming on my forehead.

Calm down, Chris. It's okay. It's just one hour. You can do it.

I sighed deeply though my nose and twisted the doorknob slowly, swinging the door open. It was a complete madhouse inside;everyone was talking loudly and doing stupid things, since the teacher was currently not in the room. Thanking my lucky stars no one was watching me, I stepped in and creeped toward the chair in the back row.

Step, step, step, st-

I felt a liquid on my shoes a split-second too late and slipped on a pool of water on the floor. I dramatically stumbled backwards, falling to my death-

-into Ethan Myers arms.

Kill me now.
