Part 3: Bratty
Work was pretty boring. I got the occasional beers during my break. Being a mover sucks, but made a decent amount of cash.
"Taka, make sure you tell everyone to be careful with that piano." My boss said as he filled out something on his clipboard.
"Gotcha."
"You can go after that. We are wrapping up early today."
"Okay." I tossed the empty beer can into the trash, and went to tell the other members the news.
"I will see you guys." I walked off with a slight wave to them. I enjoyed the guys I worked with. We all got along pretty well, and they let me drink alcohol with them even though they knew I was only in high school. I guess you can say I grew up fast since I basically looked to be in my twenties.
My house wasn't a far walk from my work so that was a luxury. I approached my apartment stoop, and saw Yuki. "Uh hey dude." I said, and he stands up.
"Call me Yu-"
"Yuki, gotcha. I saw your ID."
His eyes shot open. "You looked through my stuff?!"
"I just wanted to know who you were. I don't need your money." I took out my keys, and inserted it into the lock hole.
"What is your name? It is rude to look through my shit." He sounded angry, but I wasn't fearing him.
"I saved your life so I can do what I want." I slowly opened the door, and turned to him. "What do you want?"
"I just wanted to say thanks."
"Welcome. My name is Takahiro Uesugi by the way. Just call me Taka if you get too lazy."
"May I stay here for a couple days?" He asked without shame.
"Why?"
"I don't feel safe at home just yet."
I decided to let him in after a couple seconds of thinking. If he would be getting killed, it would be my fault for not letting him stay at my place.
"Can you tell me who did that to you?"
Yuki looked down, and rubbed his arm. "No one."
"Bullshit. Why can't you tell me?"
"Because I don't want to."
I made a fist, and growled at him. "Listen, you ask me for favors. I am a total stranger. Yet you won't answer simple questions?"
He looks off, and bites his lip. "Your questions aren't simple. I don't want to talk about it. I will answer other things though."
"Fine, do you go to my school?"
"I do. You saw me the other day." He turns back to me. His eyes looked so feminine, it made me felt like I was interacting with a stubborn girl.
"How come I never see you besides that one day?"
"Maybe because you are popular, and I am a loser, and you just happened to notice me that day."
I walked away from him, and went to sit down on the couch. "Come sit. Standing will just tire that leg out."
He walks in, and actually closes the door, and limps over, and sat on a separate couch, and turns to face me.
"You know I don't like you right? You piss me off." I admitted.
He gave me a dirty look. "I don't like you either, but I have to ask for these favors."
