The scream was so loud it could make one's eardrums explode. It could be recorded as the world's loudest scream.
The scream did not come from Cass or Mal. It came from upstairs.
"There is another person upstairs?" The mannequin questioned. It quickly ran upstairs to the children's room.
"I have a plan. Although, if we are going to do it, it is crazy and can risk our lives." Cass said. She was good in making plans. She was always the group leader in her classes. She was the one who always made the most creative and smartest ideas. Being a leader in group projects, she was taught that she could not trust anyone.
"Well, it is better than dying now. We need to try something." Reign replied. Sweat was coming down from his forehead. In all his life, being in this house was the scariest thing ever. It was even scarier than his dad. When he was younger, Reign experienced child abuse. His dad would come home drunk and let out all his anger on him. His dad would call him names like "worthless" or "you piece of poop." Reign back then was helpless. He could not do anything to fight a 30 year old man. After a few years, his dad go into a fight at a bar with a man. Turns out, the man he fought with had a gun. He shot Reign's father in the head and left the bar as soon as he can. Even though Reign's father was abusive, he still loves him and misses him.
"All of us will run upstairs and close the door. We also get a chair and jam the doorknob. She won't be able to get out. We may not kill her, but we can stop her from killing us today." Cass spoke.
The others did not move or respond for a second. They all doubted her. In the end, they agreed. It was their only shot not to die today, or ever.
Phillip grabbed a chair from the kitchen while the rest went up.
They found the mannequin inside the children's room. She was looking for her victim. As the mannequin was facing the other way, Mal shut the door and Phillip put the chair in between the doorknob. The door was finally jammed.
On the other side of the door, the mannequin screamed and scratched. "You won't get away with this. Remember, I will get you." The mannequin let out a sinister laugh and stopped trying to open the door.
"That was so close. Good thing we acted quickly!" Mal said.
"Yeah, I agree. But something bothers me. Who was the girl who screamed?" Cass said. "If it was none of us, who could that be. Is it possible for another person to be in this house too?" Cass' heart started beating. Was it possible that there was other victims in this house?
