"Emily, are you ok? Don't you ever scare me like that again! I was so worried darling!" Mum runs towards me, her heels clacking on the wooden floor of the hall.
"I'm fine. And I've made my decision." I push her away slightly.
"What is it sweetie?" Mum asks, smiling.
"I'm gonna go with dad. Because I want to see more places." I make up.
"Ok darling. Well, I've gotta go now, bye!" mum smiles and waves before getting in her car and driving away. As she's driving out of the gate, the three of us all swear at her.

I'm packing up my room, though dad says if I don't want anything, to just throw it away and he'll buy me whatever in Bournemouth. Okayyy.... We've never really been big on my moneys o for him to say that is a bit of a surprise.
He's also buying me all new furniture, so we're scrapping all of mine.
"Hey." Alex comes in with a wrapped box.
"Hi. Almost done!" I stand and look at the boxes neatly cluttering my floor.
"I can see. That was quick." Alex grins.
"Yeah. I'm just desperate to get out of this place. Too many memories." I shrug, turning to look at him
"Here. I'm going in three hours, you in four so... Here." He holds it out to me.
"Thanks. Yours is somewhere in this mess!" I giggle. I sneaked out yesterday afternoon to buy him a leaving present.
"You have three hours!" Alex winks before walking out.
I rummage through several boxes before finding the big box in an even bigger box.
It's wrapped in shiny gold paper with an envelope stuck to the front labelled Alex.
"Alex!" I yell and he comes running in.
"What's wrong?" he asks and then laughs as I give him a sarcastic look of terror.
"Here. you can only open this when you land in LA though." I say cheekily.
"And you're only allowed to open yours in Bournemouth." Alex held his hand out and I took it, doing our clicky handshake thing.

Everything's packed, and I'm saying my final goodbyes to Alex.
"I'll miss you." I say, feeling my eyes tear.
"Miss you to sis. Take care, ok? And if anyone messes with you, call me and I'll get on the first plane home and knock them into next Tuesday." Alex hugs me tightly and puts his hands on my shoulders.
"Ok Al. Skype me." I say before getting in the car and watch him get smaller as we drive away.
"You'll love it in Bournemouth. It's an amazing town, loads of shops, and you'll make friends easy enough." Dad reassures me.
For the first hour and a half, I write lyrics in my notebook.
"Hey, dad?" I ask, closing the book and turning slightly so i can see him properly.
"Yeah?" he asks, glancing at me every so often.
"What job? You said a couple of days ago that you 'got new work,' but never said what." I say.
"Oh. for about five months now, I've been working in a recording studio as a producer-slash-DJ guy." Dad smiles as I stare at him, dumbfounded.
"So you had this totally secret life that you didn't tell anyone?!" I ask, a smile tugging at the corners of my mouth.
"Alex knew, and helped me hide it in exchange for me getting him the job he's got, though the only open position was what he's doing now - and that means he's got to be stationed in LA." Dad explains and I nod, allowing my face to light up with the thought of my dad working in the music business.
We spend the rest of the journey either singing completely out of tune to random CDs I found in the glove compartment and talking about random stuff that doesn't really matter.
Dad pulls into a long drive and I gaze at the trees, my mouth hanging open.
And then I see the house...
