I stared at the slice of chocolate mousse in front of me.
It looks inviting but I think I left my appetite somewhere.
“I-oorder ba kita ng iba o tinatry mo syang maubos sa pamamagitan ng titig mo?” Vito asked me with this glint of humor in his face, as he shot me a glance. “Wag mong sabihing diet ha! Hindi ka naman nagkukulang ng exercise from me, so eat it.”
“Vito…let’s stop this.” I looked at him. As expected he fixed his piercing eyes on me with this worried expression, brows furrowed and all.
“What do you mean?” His voice reeks of anger he’s trying to suppress for he knows exactly what I mean.
“I couldn’t do this anymore. I couldn’t be with you while he’s still with me. I love him, Vito.” saying the last line almost like a whisper.
He inhaled some air, his way of calming himself. Exhaled. He reached for my hand. “Alex, I know this is getting tough for you but you love me too right? You may not say it but I know. I can feel it. And I think that’s better. I told you before that you have to choose between us, pero I accepted na kayo at ako ang may kasalanan na nagkahiwalay tayo before. That’s the reason that I agreed to the idea of just being the second man in your life. Mahirap din ‘to for me. I’m a man. I don’t want to share my princess to anyone, but I can’t do anything about it…so please don’t leave me. Don’t do this. Think about it then tell me. Magulo isip mo ngayon.”
“No…my mind’s made up.”
He sighed. “No. I’ll leave you alone first. Think about it again then talk to me. For now, I’ll go…” he picked up his things and stood up. He leaned to me, “I love you my Princess…always have and always will…” with that he kiss the top of my head before he left me there, staring still at the untouched cake in front of me.
