It was hard to fight the tears, but I managed to keep them in. There was a knock on the bathroom, "Bre?" I already knew who it was before they spoke. I opened the door and walked past Justin into his room.
Justin walked in behind me, shut the door, and lounged out beside me. "What's wrong?" "I'm just tired." "I'm not stupid. Talk to me!" "Okay, I hate the I'm putting you at risk. I know I deserve this, but..." "You don't deserve this. No one deserves that!" "Maybe your right." "And don't worry about me, we're gonna keep it hidden. This is all going to blow over." I smiled.
"You really should get some sleep, Aubrey. It's been a long day." "You're right." I leaned over, kissed Justin's cheek and walked to the door. "Where you going?" "...The couch." "Sleep with me...please?"
He was so cute! How could you ever say no to him! I flipped off the lights and crawled under the blankets next to him. We rolled to our side, facing each other and he started rubbing my face.
"It's going to be okay..." He scooted close and pecked my lips, then flipped me to my back. Just as he did so, he hovered over me and starred into my eyes. I picked my head up and placed my lips onto his.
He started separating his lips, so I wrapped my arms around his neck making my head fall back onto the pillow. I swear this is the closest we ha'd been...until he pulled back and smiled.
He rolled to his back and pulled me over his chest. "Goodnight, beautiful." "Goodnight, Justin." I felt his warm lips on my forehead one last time and I feel asleep under his nestling touch.
I awoke to the empty feeling beside me. Justin had gotten up. So I did the same just to make sure everything was okay.
I got up and walked to the door. There were two voices right outside that belonged to Justin and Pattie.
"Yeah, but I don't see why it upsets her so much, ma..." "Honey, you have got to! She's trapped! She feels like she's being punished for this. She has seen all the other girls backstage watching you. Being able to be the first one to hug you when you come back. She wants that feeling! After her being the girl last night, she got a glimpse. Now she wants it for real. Justin...I know you like her and I can tell she likes you too. You just have to be a bit more considerate and realize that this isn't easy for her. Promise me you'll think about that?"
"I don't know how you can do it in a day but I'm really starting to fall." "Anything's possible, son." I felt my body and cheeks growing warm. I wanted to cry, but I couldn't.
"Now promise me, Justin." "I promise, ma." "Go get some sleep, darling." "Thank you..."
I heard footsteps and I dove back onto the bed. I pulled the sheets over my body just as he opened the door. I felt the bed curve with his body and he snuggled close to me.
Justin pulled my arm back over him and smirked at me trying to act asleep. "Is she right, eavesdropper?" I giggled and lifted my head. "You'll never know."
We both smiled, I kissed his nose, and laid back into his chest.
This is where I wanted to be. This is the safest place I had ever been...I knew now I made the best decision. Justin was the sweetest guy I had ever met. And for him to have fought someone for me? A person he just met? It meant the world. He was right when he told me he'd protect me.
I heard Justin's breathing grow heavy, I knew he was asleep. I took advantage of it and used the sound as my own personal lullaby.
