Letting Go

"No, I haven't talked to Justin. I don't know what's going through his mind." "So he's not talking to you?" "No, I'm uh, I'm ignoring him."

"Oh. Just call me as soon as you figure out what's going on." My dear friend placed her hand on my shoulder. "I'll fly you out soon." I wrapped my arms around Natalie before I boarded my flight.

Scooter suggested I needed a break, so I'm going home. I think he's just trying to keep Justin and I apart. Yesterday was his last show...

I've stayed indoors and off of the internet to avoid the drama.

"This is it, sir." I informed the driver. He opened my door and walked my baggage to my door step. "Thank you." "Have a good one, ma'am." I tipped him and he went back to his car.

I opened the door to my stuffy home and drug the luggage to my bedroom. I went back and flipped all of my electricity back on.

I could see dust over a lot of things... I don't feel like it.

I walked back to my room and jumped onto my bed. It's so good to be home.

Once the cool air started escaping my vents. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I awoke to the spine-cringing sounds of the highway horns. A hard groan left my mouth... 2:49 a.m. Perfect. I've pretty much gotten a full night's sleep.

I rolled off my comfortable bed and scooted to the shower. Once I got out, I brushed out my knotted hair, slipped on yoga shorts and a tank.

My home needed to be cleaned, so I plugged in my phone and blasted music to set mood.

Barely after I got started, a call interrupted. "Hello?" "Hey! You get home safe?" "Yeah, sorry I didn't call. I was exhausted." "As long as you're okay."

The doorbell sounded through the house. "Natalie, I'll call you back." I hung up the phone.

Who would be here right now? It's 3:30 in the morning! Aware of my past, I grabbed a bat and creeped over to the door.

I took a deep breath and slowly put my eye up to the peep hole. My chest caved in when I saw the person. My fave grew hot and my eyes watered.

I reached my hand to the doorknob and undid the locks. The door opened without me.

"What the hell? Why aren't you answering my calls and texts?!" My feet were lifted off the ground. "I missed you!" Justin kissed my cheek.

Once I was back on the ground, I turned and walked the opposite way. My wrist was caught and I was yanked around. "What is wrong? A week ago you would've jumped in my arms!"

Out of reflex and anger, I hit Justin's chest. "I'm fucking done! I can't keep running in circles. I can't beat her! I can't measure up to her, Justin!" Tears were streaming down my face.

"I don't want this Justin." His jaw dropped. "Stop!" He wiped away my waterworks and put both hands on my shoulders. "What are you talking about?" "What do you think, Justin?!" I snapped.

"We're really going back to this?" "Going back? Justin! Why was she with you?" He dropped his arms and took a step back. "She wanted to see everyone."

"So you're defending her now?" "I'm so fucking sorry we have the same friends." "Have you thought about how this looks on my part?" I threw my hands up.

"God, Justin. She wasn't there to see them. She was there to see you and you know that!" Justin dropped his head and starred at his feet. "Ugh!" I threw my hands down and stormed towards my room.

Justin ran in front of me.

"Why don't you trust me?" I chuckled and gave him a 'really' face. "Okay." He sighed. "Bad question." "Justin. I'm done. This is killing me and making me look stupid."

I walked around him and slammed my door behind myself.

I slid down my door onto the floor. Justin knocked when I began to weep. "Go away." "No open the door." "No." "Fine..." He sighed and I heard him sit down. "I'll just wait here."

"Do you still love her?" "No! I-no. I-I don't know anymore. I didn't but..." I cried even harder.

My heart was close to exploding. "Aubrey, please stop crying. I hate when you cry."

"How could you still be in love with her?!" "I'm not! I still care about her, yes. But I don't want to be with her. I want you."

"Then why the fuck did you sleep with her!?" "Cause I was fucked up!" "That is no excuse. What happens the next time?" "I'm not going to be stupid." His voice cracked.

"She doesn't care, Justin. She wants you for publicity." He said nothing. "Obviously you're confused." I stood up and opened the door.

The red, swollen eyed boy looked up at me. I stepped over him and grabbed some blankets from a closet. Once I turned around, he was standing in front of me.

"You need to figure out what you want. I thought the break would work. Now I just want you to go out with an open mind." "What are you saying?" I brought my hands to my face and began to cry in them.

"Stop, please." Justin pulled my hands from my face and wrapped his arms around my neck. "Please don't, Justin. This isn't easy for me..." He let go.

I wiped his tears away. "I'm saying that it's ov-over. Go out. Be alone. If you come to find I'm still what you want... great."

"Please don't do this." He stepped forward.

I handed him the sheets. "Sleep here tonight." "I can't." "Please, Justin." I sighed. "Fine." A feeling of relief came over me.

"Feel free to shower. There's not a lot, but help yourself to anything in the kitchen." "Thanks." He half smiled.

I walked to him and put my lips to his cheek. "Goodnight." I kissed his luscious cheek.

Just before I closed my bedroom door, his voice sounded. "Goodnight, Aubrey." I could tell he was hurt by the sound in his voice.

Scared to turn around, I shut the door behind myself.
