I allowed Hannah to fall from my grasp and land on the floor.

I quickly scurried to Ciels side and fell to my knees.

I carefully reached down and scooped up his small fragile hand in my own.

I looked down into his cold icy eyes and watched for a miracle to happen.

As I watched, I felt a strong gentle hand rest on my shoulder.

The scent of vanilla and mint filled my nose, allowing me to know that it was Sebastian.

I lowered my unoccupied hand down to Ciels blood red eyes and gently closed them.

When I was finished I turned my head to Sebastian.

"This was not part of the deal Sebastian. Claude was supposed to allow Ciel to live."

"Indeed I was, and I have not failed my end of the bargain."

Sebastian and I glanced up only to be met with Claude.

A sense of anger surged throughout my body.

I gently sat Ciels hand on the ground and stood up.

"Claude, he is gone! That was not part of the deal! We have brought Hannah back to you, alive, and we arrive only to be met with this?" I shouted in anger.

Claude removed his glasses and reached into his breast pocket. He pulled out a small white handkerchief and cleaned the smudges from the surface of his spectacles.

When he was finished, he carefully placed them back onto the bridge of his nose.

"You see Eva, I have held up my end of the bargain. Ciel is still alive. He is just unconscious at the moment. You can not hear his heartbeat for he no longer possesses one, he is, indeed, a demon after all." He said with a disgusted tone.

"Why is he unconscious!" I shouted.

"He would not keep quiet my dear. I had to do something until you arrived."

"Alright Claude. You have Hannah, what else do you want?" I asked.

Claude pondered at my question for a moment.

"I want his soul."

I glanced towards Sebastian and back to Claude.

"He no longer has a soul Claude."

"Ahhh, but he does. You see, when he was turned, Sebastian left it untouched, it is untainted." He said.

"Why do you want his soul so bad Claude? Why when you could collect any number of souls ever imaginable." I asked.

"His soul dwells in darkness, yet remains unstained by it. It's vexed us, tantalized us, driven us mad, and I want it. I need it, desperately." He said.

"You can't have it Clau-" Sebastian stopped me.

He leaned into my ear and whispered.
