Days pass me by,
But I am never alone.
I wonder if I'm going somewhere.
Winter's cold,
I'm glad it passed
Summer's hot,
I'm glad its here.

It was the day of my fourteenth birthday.
This brought back some memories I didn't really want.
But, Colton wasn't going to ruin my day, was he?
Because today, I was going to become an alpha.
My father wanted to step down from his position, he wanted to give my mother all the love he could.
My shift would be different. I'd be bigger, stronger, more athletic.
I'd been skipping school to catch up on training.
My father passed the bond, and then I shifted.
As I shifted, it was slightly painful. Pangs of hurt and ache hit me, as the first shift to become alpha was the hardest.
You have to remember all the more horrid memories, and recall them, which makes you angry, then, the tremors come quickly, and you are a lean, mean, fighting machine.
I remembered Colton.
The ways he decieved me.
At the end of my shift, I started laughing.
That would have been disrespectful, and I was expected to be given a glare.
But no, they just stood there.
Then I remembered I had shifted.
I looked down at my creamy fur, and caught sight of my face in a puddle. They were light blue, an odd contrast.
Then, my gaze was stopped with ceremonious hoots and claps.
I shifted back, and the party had already started.
My vision was different, I could see things much more clearly, and hear much more than I should. I guessed it was supposed to be secret, because I could hear people talking about me.
"Urgh! Why is she alpha and not me!"
"I'm more than jealous"
"She better not steal my mate. I hear she can mate who she wants, and has an actual mate on top!"
It was kind of unpleasant, watching the girls dance around in short dresses, but none of the boy's attention being on them; their attention was on me.
The scary thing was: I was starting to enjoy the attention.
"Hi" I said to Annabelle, but I realized I purred it. I coughed. "I can't help the voice!" I shouted, in a soft, beautiful kind voice. I coughed again.
"You can't get rid of it" A male whispered behind me, before walking off.
I shook my head. "You can't see how wierd this is!" I had to work to get my voice normal, but I did it.
"Yep. I can. You look, different. I guess, just suddenly, older..." She said, her mind in another place.
I realised she was staring at a boy.
"I'll get him over here"
Her eyes widened and she blushed. It was an order, she couldn't object. It was beyond her ability.
"Curt. Get over here"
I knew the names of everyone in the pack. He turned his head, and when he realised I was talking to him, he scooted over quickly.
My dad told me it would wear off soon - the fact that everyone thought when I was talking to them, I was ordering them to do something.
"Yes, Alpha Cherry?"
"Annabelle would like to talk to you, I have to go and organise something, Clara, Clara, Clara?" I called, having a reasonable exit. Clara would get me a drink. I was hot and all the voices I could hear were giving me a headache.
"Cherry, are you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, can you just grab me a drink, I don't care what it is"
I had warned my friends to still call me Cherry, even after I became alpha. She came running with two glasses in her hands. One for her and one for me. I drank it all quickly.
"Have you noticed Asher staring at you? I think you need to catch his eye"
I was realising too much...it looked odd. I had my eye on everyone, as I could tell something bad was going to happen.
"Okay, are you sure your okay?" Her sweet, bubbly voice echoed in my ears.
"Yep, yep, I'll be right back"
I got out of the party area, just as the slow-dance music began.
Ow, my ears were burning.
It felt as if something bad was going to happen. The atmosphere was thick, and the full-moon was coated in thick, grey clouds.
I had no one to run to if there was an attack.
Suddenly, every pack member felt like a burden on my shoulders.
I had been warned.
This was what happened when there was going to be an attack. The pack fell on your shoulders. This was the only warning.
Josh came running out.
I had forgotten he was my second-hand man.
"Can you feel it?"
I thought this was the wrong moment to start singing some 'Michael Jackson' song. "Yes, yes, of course I can"
"Well, we need to stop the slow-dance and get the weak ones out and the warriors in"
I was fixated on his lips.
Okay, that sounds wrong.
"Is-is-is-that lip-lip-lipsick?" I stuttered.
"Yeah, why are you bothered?" Yeah, why was I bothered.
"Ew. Gross. You're like, fifteen"
"Older than you"
"N'aw. Not by much"
His eyes were a deep ocean blue, and I was lost in them, until the burden became heavier.
"Go to the elders. Go!" I ordered, and he ran to them.
I ran into the tent "Please, please, go to the safe house, unless you are a warrior, and you know who you are"
A flood of younger children ran to me, saying they were on their 'trainee warrior course', and I told them to follow Clara and Annabelle, so they could get to the safe-house, and defend the women there.
Then, fifty or so boys were surrounding me, practically drooling.
