“What happened to you…Josh?” I asked him.
“I changed”
“I don’t understand what is happening with the government right now. Because what you told me last night made no sense. Mind explaining it again?”
“Well, if you aren’t a werewolf, we kick you out now. If you are a wolf or a sorceress you stay. Sorceress gets the better life, the one in the private part of the pack house. If you are a wolf…you earn your own money, make your own life up, and study hard at school”
“You never used to be so cold, Josh. I saw your old self last night. You actually seemed happy”
“Shut. Up. Now. I’d be in the same position as you if I shifted like a normal werewolf”
“But if you weren’t, you’d use your sorceress abilities”
“Yes”
“You are clearly my mate, now, admit to being a sorceress, and live with me forever. I’m just cutting to the chase”
“I’ll think about it”
“I’ll just tell the Alpha about you…then”
“Don’t. He’s stupid. He needs a fortune teller because he can’t make any decisions of his own. He has been using the wise woman to predict the future, but her visions are becoming shaky. How did you think the pack has been surviving lately? Thank me and many other high members of the pack”

The alpha is a tall, handsome man, who attracts many women, thanks to his looks, money and his power.

As I entered his meeting room, he stood up. I raised my eyebrows, and looked at the perfectly polished oak floor.
“Hello” He furrowed his perfectly waxed brow “I’m guessing Josh brought you here because you have the very rare ‘sorceress’ power”
I nodded, unwilling to speak to this monster.

He combed a hand through his hair, and in seconds, he was by my side, and I realised he had pushed Josh away.
“Are you jealous of the power I have?” He asked.
“No…because I have more power than you. Otherwise, you wouldn’t need me” I told him.

I was bluffing. I might have power, but I haven’t learnt what it may be.
“Do you see Josh over in the corner?”
“Yes”
“Well, he isn’t going to walk, but you are going to bring him to your side”

I thought about how I was going to do this, and I couldn’t help my mind from wandering away from the point.

It was such a bright, airy room, and even thought this man appeared to be threatening me, the atmosphere still remained oddly calm. I looked out of the large window, and watched people walk by. I suddenly came back to the point, and thought about Josh. Then, I thought about him next to me.

And in the next moment, he was next to me.

“Well done” The Alpha passed me a bowl full of steaming water. “This is your first real task, then you can choose your room” He breathed out slowly
“What do you want me to see?” I asked.
My future”
“You have to stay there in complete silence. You ask no questions while I am seeing

Josh’s slow and constant breathing sent me into the future, and the steamy water really helped.

The steam danced around me crazily, and in the still water I could read the future, just like watching a film. I sat down on the cold floor, and looked into the bowl full of promise.

I saw a blonde woman, her name was Patricia. She was holding hands with the Alpha, and the Alpha looked older than he is now. He came out of the pack house, three children following. I guessed I had just seen his children. I watched him grow old, but I could feel the uncertainty from this vision. A figure walked into the room, a broad, muscular figure. I could only see a black silhouette.

It must be Josh. I can’t be sure, and the vision ended abruptly.

“Josh will be the next alpha” I told him “You will have three children, and a blonde wife, called Patricia. That’s all I know, and all I can say. I want to choose my room, Alpha. But…I’ve seen it in films, and if paths change, the future changes”
“I wish I had the power to see” He whispered almost silently. “Go. You know the way around the place”

I stood up quickly and scurried off through a wide oak door. I waited for Josh to come out, but I couldn’t help but overhear the conversation Josh was having.
“You have to keep this a secret. You have to tell her that” The alpha instructed.
“I will, alpha”
The alpha released a breath, and his patience seemed to be running out. “I want you, and her to find me Patricia”
Josh nodded.
“Be a better alpha than me, Josh”
“I will”

I started walking down the corridor as soon as I saw Josh walking out of the office.
“You aren’t off the hook” Josh’s steady and dull tone told me, and I sighed.
“You have to help me find Patricia” He said quietly.

I carried on walking.

“I cannot do that. I cannot force them into that. Their paths have to meet with no intervention” As soon as I walked out of this office building, Josh started running after me.
“What the hell? What the hell happened to you?”

Josh was back, my lovely happy Josh, all in that sentence.

“More like…what happened to you!”
“I know, and I’m sorry. I flipped. Now, where did all of this vocabulary come from, eh? Intervention…you seem like an eighty year old wise woman”
“I don’t know” I said, trying hard not to catch his eye.
“You aren’t going to cheer up completely if I don’t tell you what happened to me for the past year”
“You’re right there”
“The Alpha made the wise woman put a curse on me, so I could never be…sociable. So people wouldn’t want to talk to me…therefore, I wouldn’t reveal his secrets”
“Oh. Right”
“The curse ended when I earned trust from the Alpha”
“Okay, thanks for explaining. Can we move back into the 21st century now?”
He nodded.

We walked for a while in silence, until Josh picked me up, and held me in the air – bridal style. I looked into his deep, blue eyes, and leaned in to kiss him.
