That weekend was the Gryffindor Quidditch try outs and Hermione, Neville, Luna and I all went to support Harry and Ginny, as captains, and Ron, who was trying out for Keeper.
"Oh, I hope Ron does well. He's been wanting to play for the house team since first year." Hermione said, worried.
I hugged her with one arm. "He'd do fine. Harry's been working with him." Then we saw McLaggen dressed out as a Keeper as well. "Uh oh." We watched as McLaggen skillfully blocked the Chasers shots. Ron blocked all the shots on him but he wasn't as graceful. We were all hoping that somehow McLaggen would start to miss shots, then he did. He missed one shot, then another and then almost all the shots taken on his side. I looked over Hermione and saw her cover her mouth every time a Quaffle came toward him. I snickered and shook my head, I knew what she was doing.
The next day, the four of us went to the Three Broomsticks for a Butterbeer. After we sat down and ordered, Ron scoffed and asked if we could leave.
"Why do you want to leave? We just got here." I asked him and he jerked his head up to the corner booth. Ginny and Dean were sitting there, heads close and talking. Harry looked over at them and then down at the table. I didn't know what happened between him and Cho last year but it ended and he was uncomfortable seeing Ginny with Dean.
"Oh Ron, they're just holding hands." She looked back over at them and then quickly back at us. "And snogging."
Ron started to put on his jacket. "I'm leaving."
"Ron, don't be ridiculous." She sighed. "What if she looked over here and saw you snogging me? Would you want her to just get up and leave?"
Just then Professor Slughorn came over to us. "Mr and Miss Potter, I was hoping to run into you. I'm planning a dinner party for a few students and was wondering if you would like to attend."
"We'd consider it an honor, Professor." I said. I caught sight of Draco when he came into the Three Broomsticks. He gave me a sad smile and went into the bathroom. I knew what he was doing, his first attempt to kill Dumbledore.
Slughorn smiled at us and then looked at Hermione. "Ah, Miss Granger. You're welcome to join as welll."
She swallowed her drink. "I'd be delighted, sir." He said his goodbyes and left. We hung out for bit and Ron started to tell us, when Hermione left to the bathroom, that he'd notice Lavender Brown, staring at him a few times. Harry made the comment that maybe she fancied him and Ron told him, not in a million years. When Hermione came back, we left. On the walk back to the school, we heard screaming.
We ran to it and saw our friends Leanne and Katie. Leanne was standing over Katie screaming at her if she was okay. Katie's body started to be jerked around on the ground by nothing and then she lifted into the air and fell to the ground.
Hagrid walked over to us and shouted "Don't get any closer to her!" We all backed up as he stepped closer to poor Katie. I noticed a package on the ground and walked over to it. "Do not touch that! Only by the wrappings." I nodded and pulled the wrapping toward me and looked at the necklace.

McGonagall asked Leanne how it happened and she told her that Katie went the bathroom and when she came back she had the package and was hell bend on delivering it at the moment. McGonagall dismissed her and Snape came in. He performed a spell and confirmed the necklace was cursed.
"It was Malfoy." Harry said, without hesitation.
"Harry!" I was shocked he said it them. Hermione took my hand and squeezed it. "That's a serious accusation."
