Kat's POV
(Again)

This is wrong...

Shut up, conscience.

Stop, this isn't right.

Of course it is. Nothing has ever felt so right in my life, or that I remember. Ever since my changing, all my memories are fuzzy. Some seem to be gone. There's still that painful emptiness in my head that I can't comprehend.

"Prosper?" I speak up.

"Yeah?"

My hand traces over his tattoo gently. But there's no affection to it, and I'm not sure why. It's like I'm searching for something that isn't there. "Did you lose memories after you changed?"

He tilts his head. "No, not that I know of. But I guess everyone reacts differently."

"I guess."

The answer disappointments me. It means that the emptiness pounding against my skull isn't normal. But maybe as time passes, it'll be less noticeable. I'm happy right now, isn't that what should matter? Who cares about a bunch of dumb, useless memories?

"We should head back," I murmur, curled up and cocooned in his body.

"What's the hurry?" He whispers back.

"Alice and James will be worried."

"Nah. They'll call one of us first, and we'll tell them. And they can't be pissed either, they've done this to me multiple times."

I begin to relax again. At some point, we both drift off. His soft and rhythmic breathing lulls me to sleep.

"Prosper? PROSPER! Ugh, if you don't answer, I'm going to kick both of your asses."

Wha?

We both jolt up nearly at the same time, startled. I rub my eyes sleepily, thinking I imagined it.

"Katerina? Prosper!"

"Oh, it's my watch," Prosper mumbles. He pushes a button, which turns green when his finger leaves it. I'm guessing that means our voices are sent through there to screaming, pissed Alice.

"We're fine. We just thought we might do a little exploring. We fell asleep," he explains.

"Well, you could've told us before you left! No one was on watch!" Alice hisses.

"We're coming back, Alice. Don't worry," I speak up.

Her voice snaps back before the speaker goes dead. "You better."

Prosper sighs, glancing at me along with a perfect smile. Too perfect. "Well, I guess we better head back."

"Yeah..."
